Page 69 of Ranger's Rise
Freedom
The Club is packed. We only have two training classes going, but a bunch of Brothers from the boot camp Brinks and Mounty run are here and in cuts. The Flight Crews are here and look happy to be here. Seren and Harmony make their way back.
“Glad you made it. Where’s Ranger?” Seren sits and takes a drink. They were line dancing and looked to be having fun at it.
“A Flight Crew guy pulled him to the bar.” I point and he looks over at me. He sees everything. “Where’s Cort?”
She points to a group of Brothers at the next table. “McCabe has a guy with questions about the school.” She points to Brinks. “He’s keeping watch while Cort is busy. Not that anyone said anything, but he’s been following me around.”
Harmony laughs. “That’s weird how they do that. Falcon used to follow you too.”
“How come you never got with Falcon?” I ask since he isn’t anywhere close.
She shrugs. “I thought about it at first, but he had some baggage and I didn’t know how deep that went. I’ve dealt with enough shit from men. Falcon was pissed at himself and I saw changes that were good in him. He was more relaxed around the Officers and smiled more, but he was a good friend by then. I guess he liked being friends too because he never once tried to be more.”
Seren asks, “Have you met Juanita?”
She nods with a smile. “I know her. He called and asked about her. Two days later, I saw him out with her. They’d be great together. I haven’t seen her around lately.”
I don’t say anything and Seren looks around the bar. “I don’t see your guy, what did you say his name was?”
“Shultz.”
I shake my head at her. “Nope. He’s a dog.”
Her shoulders drop. “Damn, I should have asked you. I miss Falcon. He’s good at the Brothers that are dogs. Do you know of a good Brother that isn’t just into now?”
I laugh. “Falcon gave you Brothers?”
Her head shakes. “No, just who to stay away from. You’ll hear it so I’m just going to tell you. Hade tried right before you told me you were done with him. Falcon warned me, like I’d go there.” She rolls her eyes.
Fucking bastard. “Why didn’t you say?”
“When you came in, you told me you were done. There was no point, but now the Brothers are pissed at him and they were saying shit. I’m just telling you so you’re not surprised.”
“Wait. That was right after Lorelei. You were done?” Seren looks hurt.
Damn! “Yeah. There was shit going on that had me thinking. You just had Caelan and Lorelei hit Raid’s. No one needed more drama.”
“I’m glad. I saw some stuff that was weird and wasn’t sure what to think, so I kept quiet.”
Harmony laughs. “This is some shit. We’re all closed mouth about stupid shit.”
I shrug. “We are, but I’m good with it. If you would have said something before, I’d be pissed, but it was done so it would have just wasted energy.”
“I’m good with it too. Nothing I thought was as it seemed, so it would have hurt if I opened my mouth.”
“Why didn’t Lorelei come?”
Seren smiles. “They have Caelan. Raid didn’t want Ajhil watching him while Rex took Ant Irma to dinner. I swear he’s worse than Cort. Ajhil is seventeen. I babysat babies when I was fourteen and Caelan has Security so Ajhil wouldn’t be alone.”
Someone touches my shoulder and I look up. “Looking for dates?”
Seren laughs as Brinks pulls the guy away. Harmony stands up. “Hey, I may be.”
Brinks lets the guy go and me and Seren are laughing again. “Pres and Ranger’s ol’ ladies are off-limits.”
The guys hands go up. “Got it, Dude. Relax.” Oh shit.
