Now that I know Santiago is clueless, I have to focus my full attention on Orlando. He’s the head of the Lionetti family, and he always has his hands in everything.
He has to know something, but he’s not willing to come forward with the info because revealing it doesn’t benefit him.
I could ask and see his reaction, but his loyalty has always only been to himself and his family. He’d put on a poker face, and that wouldn’t help me.
There’s a tiny possibility that he’s behind everything and that he’s somehow managed to keep it quiet.
If that proves to be true, what about Sienna? My deal with the Lionettis would be over. What would I do with her? Kill her with the rest of her family to make her father pay?
It’s pointless to think about that. I don’t know if Orlando has anything to do with what happened to my family or if he even knows anything.
It would be a shame to lose her so soon when there’s still so much potential, even if it would be better if she were far, far away from me.
Maybe at least then she wouldn’t plague my thoughts.
Maybe then I wouldn’t care about what she thinks or how she feels.
But perhaps I can come up with a different way to get her out of my head.
Chapter 31
IWIND THE ROPE AROUNDmy hands as I press my back against the wall. Fuck everything. I’m getting out of here one way or another.
Even if Alessandro ends up killing me.
But I’m done being stuck in the dungeon. He’ll probably overpower me easily, but I’m done waiting for something to happen.
I may like his kisses.
I may like his touch.
I may like this dungeon at certain times. But I sure as hell don’t want to be kept prisoner in it.
When the door opens, I brace myself.
I wait for Alessandro to enter, but he doesn’t.
