It wasn’t an easy feat to do that.
My investigation hasn’t led me anywhere so far.
But the Lionettis might know something. They’re too powerful not to know anything. Actually, it’s very likely the killers crossed through their territory.
My family and the Lionettis have never been direct enemies because their empire is expanding in a different direction, and my family’s territory actually helps them keep some dangerous people at bay.
But we’ve never been friends either, so they have no reason to tell me anything or help me. They may not want to do so even once our families are united.
But I’ll find a way to figure out what they know. And if somehow they are the ones who felt threatened by my father’s deal and did something to stop it to keep my family exactly where it was, I’m going to find out about it too.
A traffic camera caught Santiago Lionetti not too far away from that damn field where my family was murdered.
Sure, it may be a coincidence, and I don’t have enough proof, but it’s possible he knows something.
Making demands and confronting him is never going to work, though. The Lionettis are too proud and too strong. Sneaking into their family is a way better course of action. It will give me access to them and their resources.
The only question now is, will the drug recipe be enough for them to welcome me into their family with open arms?
Will they let me take Sienna as my wife?
I’m going to find out soon enough.
Chapter 5
AFTER MAKING SURE THATthe hallway is empty, I press my ear against the door to the living room.
My father is in there, discussing my future with my oldest brother, and yet, I’m not allowed to be a part of the conversation.
How crazy is that?
If they even suspected that I was outside, they would stop talking immediately.
But I can’t wait any longer. I want to know what’s going on and who my husband might be.
“Why do you think he sold it to him? It doesn’t make any sense,” Santiago says.
