I’d never be able to go out and just mention that to my mom in passing, without giving her any details and having her freak out over it.
But my brother has his role to play too. He’s had to learn everything about our family business, and he should be ready to take over one day.
That kind of sounds scary on its own.
“Sienna,” my mom says, waving me over. “Let’s go.”
I stroll toward her and glance at Emilia, who gives me a wide smile.
Sometimes I feel like not even my cousin can completely understand me. It’s like I’m a prop that got placed into the wrong scene, but now it’s impossible to edit me out.
Chapter 3
“HEY, SUGAR,” ANGELICAsays, puffing out a cloud of smoke.
She leans in the doorway, her tight, bright pink dress straining against her big breasts. Her blonde hair is tied up into a ponytail, and her blue eyes regard me with excitement.
Angelica really loves cash, so I pull some out of my pocket and hand it to her.
A smile spreads across her full pink lips as she takes it and moves away from the door.
To anyone who might be following me, it will look like I’m simply paying a visit to my favorite hooker.
But the truth is, Angelica is so not my type, and I don’t have a need for hookers anyway. She’s just a front, and she doesn’t mind. She’s not going to say anything to anyone.
Hell, she doesn’t even know who I am.
I pass through the room that heavily stinks of smoke and wrinkle my nose. When I get to the back exit, I crack the door open and scan the darkness.
I can’t see anyone, so I slip into the dark alley. The smell isn’t any better here. The alley reeks of piss and vomit, but I ignore it.
Navigating the streets at night without being seen is one of my favorite things. I’m like a ghost gliding through the city, hiding in the dark corners. There’s something incredibly peaceful and calming about it.
But chasing my prey is even more fun.
I like the thrill of it. When I get close to my target’s hideout, I duck behind one of the buildings.
