W e went back to the apartment, got a beer, and sat out on the balcony to plan our wedding.
Colin lit the fire pit as we sat side-by-side with the million-dollar view of the harbor.
Boats were lit up and drifted silently along in the water, offering a different view than the one we had in San Diego.
I never imagined I would be planning a wedding, or that it would be this simple.
The service we hired took care of it all.
All we had to do was fill out the Intent to Marry, click, and pay.
It was like placing a take-out order with a massive à la carte menu.
Photographer, check. Flowers, check. Food, check.
Wedding cake and champagne, another check.
Having the form signed by an official and inviting our friends and family were our only responsibilities.
And when the day came, we just needed to show up.
It took us less than a day to complete all the legal requirements. And just like that, we had a wedding date. On the tenth of March, I’d marry the love of my life in a scenic park under the Sydney Harbor Bridge at sunset.
Colin’s eyes poured over my face. “We’re really doing this, aren’t we?”
“We are. We just gotta figure out the last name deal. You can become a St. James, or keep yours. I could become a Kearney, or we can hyphenate. Kearney-St. James. Or we can stay as we are.”
He took my hand and laced our fingers together. “I think I want to be a St. James. They’d have a time with our jerseys,” he laughed. “Both would be C. St. James.”
“Yeah. The commentators would hate us.”
He rubbed his thumb along my index finger. “I could keep Kearney on my jersey, but legally be St. James.”
I loved that he was already accepting the change. “You could. But our last name is not our problem. They can figure it out. The only things we have to worry about are our contracts. What’s on the jerseys is up to the management team. But no one gets to dictate who we are but us.”
“So let’s not decide just yet,” he said. “Let’s think it over and decide later.”
When the nighttime air grew chilly, Colin went inside and grabbed a blanket. We stretched out on the chaise lounge and wrapped ourselves around one another.
“I’ve never sat out here like this before,” he said. “Never thought about it until now.”
“Another first,” I said, kissing his head.
“We should call your parents and let them know we’ve set a date.”
He was right. I did the time math in my head. “Okay. It’s afternoon in London.”
Picking up my phone, I dialed my father. He picked up after the second ring.
“Hello, my boy, how’s Australia?”
“Good. Really good. Can we switch to video?”
“Of course. Let me round up your mother, and I’ll call you back.”
He ended the call, and as we waited, I leaned in to kiss my fiancé. Our lips met in a soft kiss that quickly escalated, making me wish I’d called my parents later.
“I’m going to need to press pause on this,” I said, kissing his cheek. “I can’t talk to my parents with an erection.”
Colin gave me a devilish smile. “I could suck you off while you talk. They’d never know.”
I laughed. “Yeah, right. I can barely breathe when you put your mouth on me, much less hold a conversation.”
He stroked his hand up my thigh to my shaft. “We should make you more comfortable, don’t you agree?”
Colin crawled onto my lap and unbuttoned my jeans. Kissing me senseless while he worked, he pulled back to tug my jeans and briefs down to my knees, leaving my hard dick exposed to the night air.
“Oops,” he said as my phone rang.
“Fucking tease.” I grabbed the blanket and pulled it over my lap as he dove back into place beside me.
I swiped to answer the call, finding my parents smiling at me through the camera.
“Aww, look at the two of you,” my mother crooned. “So happy together.”
Colin kissed my cheek. “Yes, we are. We called to invite ya to come to Australia.”
My mother looked at my father. “Do you have something to announce?”
“Yes. We’re getting married on the tenth of March. It’s all planned, and we just need you to come if you can. I’ll handle your flight.”
My parents were delighted by our news. “We’re so happy for you both. Tell us everything.”
I let Colin tell them what we’d planned. I watched as his face lit up with every detail. And when he noticed I was watching, he blushed. “Sorry. This was your story to tell with your parents.”
“No, baby. They’re your parents now, too. And in thirty days, you’ll be official, and they’ll have someone else to dote on.”
“Already do,” my mother added. “I’ve told my staff all about the two of you. But I need photos to share.”
My father chuckled. “Slow down, Elizabeth, dear. You’ll get all the photos you desire when we get there. Should we come a few days before?”
“Definitely,” Colin said. “You’re welcome to stay with us.”
I looked at him, knowing how loud we could be.
My father laughed. “Maybe the first night or two, but a hotel after that.”
“Deal,” I said. “I’ll email you with all the details.”
When we ended the call, Colin was ready to start on our teammates.
“Shall we call Lennox and Evan?”
“I don’t think they’d appreciate the call the same way at five in the morning. So we’ll wait on them. Besides, you started something we need to finish.”
He bit his bottom lip and crawled on top of me. I grabbed the hem of his shirt and tugged it over his head. “Take them off. All of it.”
“Bossy,” he grinned. “I like it.”
As I watched him remove the rest of his clothes, I paused, considering his words. “Not bossy. Desperate to have my man all over me.” I never wanted to treat him like Leland did.
Colin kept his eyes on mine as he pulled the blanket off me, then removed my jeans while I got rid of my shirt. He started at my ankles and kissed his way up to the inside of my thighs. He nuzzled his nose along my balls and took them into his mouth.
“Christ,” I hummed. “That’s so fucking good.”
He let my balls fall from his mouth as I reached down to pull him up. “I wanna suck you while I finger your hole.”
He groaned as he knee-walked up to my hips, then grabbed the back of the chair before leaning over to put his shaft in my face. He was already dripping for me.
“Have me, love.”
I licked at the underside of the tip, then took him into my mouth. Colin fucked my mouth with gentle thrusts as I gathered my pre-cum to rub on his hole.
“Fuck,” he groaned as I brought my knees up to hold him open.
Circling his hole with my slick fingers, I mirrored my action on the tip of his cock.
We’d had enough sex over the last few days for me to know how much attention his hole needed before it would greedily suck my cock inside.
He’d let me know when he was ready, and until then, I would give him all the pleasure he could endure.
When he was ready and in position, he reached between his spread thighs and positioned me at his hole. Colin took a deep breath and rubbed my heavily leaking cock against his hole. He sank down on me, enveloping me in his heat.
Fully seated, his eyes met mine. He was stunning to look at, mouth open, chest rising and falling as the contours of his defined body caught the firelight. And the best part was the way he looked at me like I was everything to him.
“I love you,” I whispered to him.
Leaning down, he changed the angle and made my eyes roll back before he took my mouth again. His cock was wedged between us, and every time we moved, it rubbed against my abs and body hair, making him moan.
We rode out our orgasms together, Colin first, then me shortly afterward. I held his face in my hands and kissed him everywhere I could reach, bathing him in the love and reverence I held for him.
We were going to have an amazing life together. And I couldn’t wait until he was officially mine.
“Are we going to call all the blokes at home?” Colin asked the next afternoon
I looked at the time and opened my World Clock on my phone. Nine a.m. here meant it was four p.m. yesterday in San Diego.
“I think I’ll just text them at one time. It’ll be easier.”
“Good call. Love that plan.”
I picked up my phone and sent the first message to the group.
Me: G’day mates! I’m here to invite you all to Australia. We’re getting married.
I waited to see which set of bubbles started first. It was Lennox.
Lennox: That’s fucking great, man. Congratulations.
Evan: There ya go, St. James. Well played.
Me: Yeah, we’re pretty happy.
Mason: Married? Like really married?
Me: Is there another way I don’t know about?
Lennox: Ignore him.
Drew: That’s great! I never thought you’d get married St. James.
Evan: When’s the wedding?
Colin: Tenth of March
Evan: Why the long wait?
Me: It’s the law. No Vegas Style quickies down under.
Lennox: Guess we better make some reservations.
Me: Don’t. I’ll charter a plane. It’ll be more comfortable for all of you.
Drew: Money bags is in the house!
Colin: Well, we have two NFL salaries. We can afford to do it for our friends.
Lennox: That’s really great guys.
Me: You guys are going to need a few days to adjust to the time change. How does March 3rd work?
Evan: I’ll ask Hudson. The kids are still in school.
Shit. Forgot about that.
Me: Kids are more than welcome to come.
Lennox: Dane has gone to get Daniel. I’ll let you know.
Mason: I’m free. How long are we staying?
Colin: My advice is two weeks. If you want to see some of the country.
Drew: I want to see the kangaroos.
Lennox: You idiot. Go to the zoo.
Evan: Lord.
Me: Okay guys. Let me know if the date works ASAP.
Evan: Hey, Colin?
I looked over at him as he texted with them.
Colin: Yeah, mate?
Evan: Good call. He’s a keeper.
I smiled at Evan’s comment.
Colin: Yeah, I know. And he’s got a big…
“Don’t you dare,” I said, going for his phone.
“What? I wasn’t gonna tell them anything.”
Evan: Don’t need to know that.
Colin: Heart. Geez. You blokes have a dirty mind.
Lennox: Not me. I knew that all along.
Mason: I plead the fifth.
Drew: La-la-la-la – don’t need to know about his heart.
Me: Just let me know and I’ll make the reservations.
Lennox: Are you paying for everything?
Me: No. You fuckers make more money than we do.
Colin: Later. We’ve got things to do.
I looked over at him. “What do we have to do?”
“I want to show you my life here and introduce you to my friends.”
But before we could do that, his phone rang. His brows drew together as he looked down at the name on the screen. “It’s the detective handling the case.”
He swiped to answer. “Hello?”
I watched his face change from a furrowed brow to a more relaxed expression. He looked at me and nodded.
“Yes, that will be fine. Thanks for calling.”
When he hung up, he put his phone on the coffee table and looked at the floor.
Reaching for him, I put my hand on his thigh. “What happened?”
He ran his fingertips over his beard. “They arrested Leland. He got an attorney, and when the evidence was presented, the magistrate ordered a hearing. Detective Jones said I didn’t have to appear unless I wanted to.
It’s pretty cut and dry, and they didn’t need my testimony.
But if I had anything to say, I could do it there, or write a statement that the prosecutors would read. ”
I took his hand. “What do you want to do?”
“I want to be done with it all. I want to move forward and forget it ever happened.”
“That makes sense. Either way, I’ll support your decision. You can always talk it over with my dad.”
Colin held my hand, but I saw almost no expression change as I watched him. “I don’t want to be sucked back into that world with him. I just want to let it go. I said my piece in San Diego. I think that was enough.”
“Think about it. You have time. But maybe putting your feelings down on paper would give you closure.”
He shrugged. “Maybe. But I don’t want any of this to ruin our day or our time. They don’t need me to proceed.”
Pulling him to me, I kissed his cheek. “Let’s go work out in the gym, then I want you to show me your world, babe.”
