Carson

S unday morning, I woke up with Colin in my bed.

Smiling at the memory of fucking him on the sofa, I held him tighter as he snuggled back against my chest. We were exhausted from our first game and collapsed into my bed after showering.

The familiar scent of my body wash on his skin was confirmation that he was mine, and I was his.

Rolling him onto his back, I made my way down his body to his morning wood. It didn’t take long to make him come, and he gladly returned the favor. When we were both spent, we lounged in the bed a little longer, enjoying the newness of what we’d established last night.

“Did we really agree to be together, or did I dream it?” he asked, running his hand down my naked abs.

I caught his hand and laced our fingers together. “It wasn’t a dream.”

The smile on his face was breathtaking. “I hoped that was the case.”

Our eyes drank in each other until he leaned over to give me a searing kiss. Our tongues swirled together, exchanging the taste of ourselves with one another. It was romantic as hell and the very thing I’d always wanted with someone. Now I was pretty sure that someone was him.

After wrenching ourselves apart, we went downstairs and made breakfast. Bella needed to be fed, as well as Allister.

“I gotta hop out there and get him some food. I’ll be right back.”

I reached out and wrapped my arm around his waist and brought him back to my chest. Kissing his neck, I whispered in his ear. “I have everything he needs here. Bought two cases of his canned food when we got back last week.”

I felt his grin along my face as he turned in my arms. “Are ya trying to steal my cat again?”

“No. I’m trying to keep his owner here as long as possible.”

Colin wrapped his arms around my neck and brought us chest to chest, then leaned his forehead to mine. “No one has ever gone to so much trouble to keep me, so I thank ya.”

My heart squeezed with affection for him. “I love doing it. You’re good for me.”

“How so?” he asked, rocking us side to side. I wanted to dance with him right here, and I’d never had that thought before.

“You let me take care of you, even though you’re fiercely independent.”

He hummed. “I just don’t know how.”

I squeezed him harder, making him grunt. “Then I need to show you.”

Colin turned his head to the side, bringing our lips together. We kissed in the middle of my kitchen as the dog barked and Allister wove himself around our ankles, leaving his kitty scent all over both of us.

It was romantic and felt like something I could do for the rest of my life with him. But I knew I was getting ahead of myself. There were things we still didn’t know about each other.

He released me as Bella continued to bark. “Someone needs to go out.”

“Yes,” I sighed, not wanting to stop. “I’ll be back.”

I released him, missing the connection immediately.

“I’ll make us something to eat and meet you by the pool.”

“You know how to cook?”

He smiled. “A few things. I’ll poke around and see what you’ve got.”

I kissed him again. “Deal. I food prep, so we need to shop this afternoon.”

He rolled his eyes. “Of course you do.”

I popped him on the ass and headed to the back door with Bella.

When we got back from our walk, Colin had prepared two plates of avocado toast with scrambled egg whites and tomatoes.

“This looks great,” I said, taking a seat next to him.

“Thanks. I may have overdone it a bit. I’m not used to cooking for two.”

He passed me a travel cup of coffee along with a glass of orange juice. Bella’s food sat on the concrete between us.

We dug in, enjoying breakfast as we sat oceanfront, watching the waves. There were things I’d said to him weighing heavily on my mind, and if we were going to give this thing between us a chance, I needed to apologize. And evidently, my face gave me away.

“What’s wrong? You don’t have to eat it. I should have found something else.”

I put my hand on his arm. “No, it’s great, really. I just need to explain some things to you, that’s all.”

He raised a brow. “Explain things?”

I nodded. “Yes. Things I said and why I reacted the way I did.”

Colin put down his fork and wiped his mouth. His eyes dropped to the table.

“Okay.”

I reached over and held out my hand. Colin stared at it for a moment, then slipped his into mine.

“The other night, when you told me about your relationship with Leland… I gave you the wrong impression. My ire was not at you; it was at him. You were a nineteen-year-old kid, and that asshole took advantage of you.”

He looked away and hardened his jaw. “But I initiated all of it. I’m not innocent, Carson.”

I squeezed his hand until he gave me his attention.

“You may have started it, but he didn’t have to take you up on it.

That’s on him. And he’s a fucking predator.

You were a na?ve kid thrust into a professional sport with little guidance.

I’d bet you had a little hero worship, too.

I just need you to know that my disgust isn’t about what you did, it’s about everything to do with him. ”

Colin squeezed my hand, then pleaded with his eyes. But I cut him off.

“You don’t have to explain yourself to me. That’s in the past, where it’s going to stay. That fucker better hope I never get my hands on him.”

“I don’t deserve you.”

I smiled and put on my best Australian accent. “Ya do. Ya really do.”

He burst out laughing, restoring the light in his eyes.

“You’re stuck with Elizabeth and George, too. They have officially latched onto you.”

“What do ya mean, latched on to me?”

“My mother is wondering when I can bring you to Colorado, and what we’re doing for the holidays. My father wants to know if the two of you could have a rugby watch party sometime. He might be your new superfan.”

His beautiful face lit up despite my reminder that he didn’t have a family. That brought me to my second point.

“As you can see by their actions, they’re ecstatic about the prospect of another son to fawn over.”

He curled his lips in and nodded. “Are you gonna tell them about us?”

It was my turn to burst out laughing.

“What’s so funny?”

“They already know. Read it on my face and yours the minute you came through the door with my father. There’s no hiding anything from them. They’re human lie detectors.”

Colin smiled. “Another thing I’m learning about Americans.”

“If all this parent talk hurts you, then I apologize. Again.”

He gave me a soft smile. “It doesn’t. My mother died in an accident when I was seven, and I went into foster care. I was bounced around, six times I think, before an older couple in their sixties took me in until I was eighteen.”

I was shocked at how detached he was from it. It was almost as if he were telling the story about someone else.

“What about your dad?”

He shook his head, still unaffected by the conversation. “Never knew him. All she told me was he was a rugger too.”

“Do you still see them? The foster couple?”

“They both passed when I was nineteen. Matilda from cancer, and John from a broken heart. At least that’s what I think.”

I couldn’t imagine losing my parents and being alone in this world. It was inevitable, but not something I had thought about till now.

“You’re not alone anymore.”

Colin nodded. “Until this ends.”

It hurt to think about that possibility, but I would not accept that kind of thinking.

“We don’t have an expiration date.”

Tugging his hand, I brought him closer for a kiss to keep him from rebutting my statement.

When he had me hot and bothered with his tongue in my mouth, I got up and led him to the pool.

Stripping him out of his shorts, I spread him out on the tanning shelf in the three-inch water and sucked him off.

“Holy shit, your mouth,” he moaned as he shot his load down my throat.

When he went limp, I licked everything off his dick like a lollipop.

Another first. Sex in public. Thank god I had no close neighbors, and the beach was down a gated flight of stairs.

“I’ve created a monster,” he said when I stretched out beside him.

Chuckling, I closed my eyes until he climbed on top of me, executing a perfect plank until his groin met mine. Thrusting his hips, he frotted me into coming in my shorts.

I opened my eyes and reached for his face. “You’re going to ruin me.”

Dipping down, he kissed me. “Ditto.”

Standing from the water, I tugged off my shorts and wiped myself up. Tossing them to the side, I sat my bare ass back on the ledge beside him.

“I’ve never done this,” I hummed, the sun warming my body.

“What’s that?” Colin asked, finding my hand and lacing our fingers together.

“Sunbathed nude. Lost control of myself and sucked off a guy in my pool like a horny teenager. Or frotted my way into an orgasm.”

He laughed. “How many guys have you been with?”

I sighed. “One. Just one.” And I squeezed his hand to confirm I meant him.

We enjoyed the tanning ledge until we needed to submerge ourselves to cool off.

“We have to tell Coach,” I said, kissing him against the wall. “I wouldn’t feel right keeping it from him. He’s put a lot of faith in me and my abilities, and I wouldn’t want him to find out any other way.”

“What if he says no or withdraws my contract?”

I kissed him quickly. “He’s not like that. Coach has an openly bisexual tight end dating the governor of the state. And then there’s Lennox. He’s got a boyfriend, too. There’s quite a story behind that one. And Dane is in the Navy. He’s a fighter pilot.”

Colin sat back, obviously shocked. “No way!”

“Way,” I grinned. “So you and me, we’re nothing special to the media. We just happen to play on the same team.”

“And live at the same address.”

“And are roommates on the road. Think of how we’ll burn off all that adrenaline.”

Colin’s eyes lit with mischief. “We can join the mile-high club.”

I shook my head. “Drawing the line there, buddy. Not with eighty of our colleagues on the same plane.”

The devil horns were forming on his head. “I’ll just have to get creative.”

I laughed, both eager and apprehensive about what this season would hold for us.
