“I was just about to put him to bed,” Doug said.

“Can I say good night?”

“Yes, but don’t stay on too long or else he’ll have trouble falling asleep.”

Walker wondered if Doug could tell he’d just had amazing sex.Probably.And he was probably jealous. That made Walker get a flash of Ron in his tight biking shorts. Yep, that image was stuck in his mind forever.

“Dad?” Hobie squeaked out.

“Hey, pal!” Walker didn’t realize how much he could love someone’s voice. “How’s the other side of the rug?” Hobie asked.

“It’s okay,” Walker said, glancing at the waves and the row of palm trees. “But it’s no Duncannon, P-A.”

“That’s what I thought.”

“Hobie, I have someone here who wants to wish you a good night.” Walker handed the phone to Cameron, who looked at it with a mix of love and trepidation.

“Hi, Hobie,” Cameron said.

“Cameron!” Walker heard his son shout through the phone. “It’s you!”

“It’s me, buddy. I heard your Lego adventures are going swimmingly.”

“There’s no swimming.”

Walker smiled. He hoped his son never realized how funny he was.

“I can’t wait to play Legos with you,” Cameron said.

“Are you coming to visit?” Hobie asked.

“No.” Cameron held Walker’s hand. “I’m coming home.”

Walker stared at the beautiful guy in front of him, the guy who he was going to create a future with one day at a time. Cameron was right. There was no looking back.
