CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
Sienna
“Are you going to tell me why you’re really here?” my mom asks, handing me a cup of tea. “Don’t get me wrong, I love that you just surprised us out of the blue. But I know you better than that.”
I take a sip of the tea, keeping it cradled in my hands. I’m not cold, but I need the extra warmth right now.
After Hadley dropped me off at my apartment yesterday morning, I threw a few things in a bag and drove straight to my parents’ house in Denver.
They both accepted it when I said I just missed them. Until now, I guess.
My mom and I have never had secrets between us, so I just tell her everything. Well, maybe not as many details as I told Hadley. She’s still my mom .
“You’re pregnant,” she says on a breath.
“I am.”
“How do you feel about it?” she asks, grabbing one of my hands in hers.
I feel a little more equipped to answer this time around. I’ve had more time to let my feelings settle.
“I’m scared, but I also think I’m happy.” I give her a small smile. “I don’t know if I should be, though.”
Her face softens. “A baby is always a good reason to be happy. Lord knows, it’s the best thing to ever happen to me,” she says, kissing my hand. “Why do you think that?”
“It’s all so complicated.”
“Complicated things can be beautiful. Just take it day by day, and when you’re ready, you need to talk to them.”
She’s right. I do need to talk to them, but I just can’t yet. I still need time.
My phone vibrates on the couch with another text. I can already assume it’s from one of the guys.
They’ve all called and texted numerous times over the last two days, and I haven’t responded to any of them.
I’m not going to keep them in the dark forever. I just need to know where I stand before I bring them into all of this.
“Which one of them is it this time?” my mom asks.
“Tucker,” I say.
“Can I see pictures of them?”
I want to say I’m surprised my mom is so okay with me having some form of a relationship with multiple men, but I’m not.
She’s a free spirit, and she’s never caged me into thinking I need to do anything short of whatever makes me happy.
I scroll through my texts with Tucker, finding a picture he took of all four of us. Luckily for my mom, he snapped the shot a few minutes before all our clothes were stripped off.
She points to Tucker, who is kissing my cheek in the picture. “He looks like a cutie, and like he’s a lot of fun.”
Both true.
Her finger moves to Warren. “He kind of looks like he’s going to murder someone, but I don’t think he’d have it in him to actually hurt anyone.”
Correct again. Unless someone came for Jackson… or maybe me.
She taps on Grayson. “And this one.” She hums. “I’ve watched him take care of his mom and his sister for years. If he does the same for you, I’d be a happy mama.”
He is a good guy. The best.
“He’s hot, too,” she adds.
“Mom,” I admonish her, laughing.
She holds up her hands. “What? I’m not going to lie to you. You picked good, girl.”
“Don’t say that ever again,” I groan. I lean over, resting my head on her shoulder. “Thanks for listening.”
“Thanks for trusting me enough to tell me all of this. It means a lot, honey.” She pulls me even closer.
She hands me back my phone, which feels like a lead weight in my hand. I’ll give myself two more days, then I need to go home.
I need to talk to them.
