Afteranearlydinnerwith Jamie’s parents, they head toThe Worship. It’s a weekday, and the club hosts yoga classes and BDSM workshops instead of one of its infamous weekend parties. Finn is grateful that they won’t have to push their way through a wild crowd to meet Jareth.

“My parents like you,” Jamie says as if he can’t believe it himself. Finn can imagine that Louis and Violette Arden would be rarely satisfied with anything their son does.

“I don’t care if they like me or not, as long as you are happy.”

Jamie leans in for a kiss. After the broken love spell and Peter’s death, Jamie has been cuddly, almost clingy. Finn doesn’t mind. His aunt thinks it might be all the magical energy Jamie somehow managed to redirect to strengthen the strings of their shared destiny. Whatever it is, Finn is very proud of Jamie.

Finn reaches for Jamie’s hand. They’re sprawled comfortably in the back of a black limousine, driven by a mouthy woman called Moira. Finn likes her, and that makes it even more weird for him to let her wait for them for hours. That’s the job of a driver, he guesses, but some aspects of the rich and famous lifestyle just don’t feel right for him.

“Dagur called me,” Jamie says as he leans into Finn’s shoulder.

“What did he say?”

“They compared the fingerprints from the photograph the two of you found out in the Highlands. They match Peter’s.”

Finn puts an arm around Jamie’s shoulders, pulling him as close as the seat belt allows.

“Dagur is convinced that Peter killed Edmonton,” Jamie sighs.

“What do you think?”

Jamie shudders. “I’m sure it was him. He must have used the demon to do it. He framed Edmonton for the stalking and then he tried to do the same thing to you. I should have–”

“No,” Finn interrupts him. “Look at me. You’re incredible. You broke a love spell with sheer willpower. Don’t youeverthink you did something wrong.”

“But it just happened,” Jamie says miserably. “I didn’t do it on purpose.”

“Doesn’t matter,” Finn says.

“Don’t you think about what could’ve happened to you? You could’ve been charged for stalking. You could’ve ended up in jail. He could’ve killed you.”

“But it’s the other way round,” Finn whispers into Jamie’s ear. “And you don’t blame me for killing him?”

“Of course not!”

“Then please,sæti, don’t blame yourself, either.”

They huddle under a too small umbrella and hurry through the puddles to seek shelter from the rain under the canopy covering the staff entrance. Jamie crowds Finn against the wall as soon as they're out of the downpour to continue snogging him.

“Let’s get it over with,” Jamie says after he pulls away reluctantly.

“Don’t worry about Jareth. He’s a good guy at heart.”

“He’s a creep,” Jamie says, but his eyes sparkle with humor.

Finn grins. “And would you dare to say that to his face?”

“When I have Thorfinn Troll-Burster with me? I might risk it.”

Finn slings an arm around Jamie’s shoulders.

“Little minx,” he whispers in Jamie’s ear, delighted to see him shudder.

They cross through the club’s main floor and head for the offices located in the former sacristy.

“Hæ, Annikki,” Finn greets Jareth’s right-hand woman, stepping out of Jareth’s office. “We have an appointment.”
