Low groans came from Douglas. Sluggishly, his body shifted. “Ah. Looks like your partner’s ready to join the party.” I shocked him again in the same shot. Spit sputtered from his mouth.
“Last chance, Tommy.” He struggled to keep his eyes focused, but flinched when I said his real name.
“Th-th-th—” He coughed roughly. “That bitch, sh-should’ve minded her business,” he spat between a fit of coughs.
My face fell. “Should’ve taken a go at her when I had the chance.” He laughed and choked. “Bitch was gonna make me thirty grand richer.”
My insides boiled with fury as my blood buzzed and trembled, rushing through my body. A black cloak covered me and my mind blanked.
Dropping the prod, I bent down and grabbed Wilma. Stepping closer to Tommy, I glared at him while he struggled to laugh. Like a bull flashed a red cape, I felt my body growing more and more angry.
He had sealed his fate by taking Ziora, but hearing how he spoke about her in front of me sent me down a spiral. Lifting my arm, I swung Wilma with so much force against his mouth, the sound of his teeth shattering boomed through the thick atmosphere.
“Fuck,” someone uttered behind me.
Blood spilled from his mouth. He choked out a few teeth, but it wasn’t enough.
“Tighten the rope,” I demanded, not taking my eyes off Tommy. Ziora did as I said and I swung Wilma again and again against his mouth. He struggled to breathe and desperately gasped for air. His eyes bulged and his body went from red to purple. A gurgling sound fell from his shattered mouth.
“Tighter,” I gritted.
Grabbing the prod again, I turned it up to max voltage and shoved it into his neck. His eyes rolled to the back of his head.
I felt like a druggie who just took their first shot of heroin as I watched the light disappear from his eyes. Tremors shot through his body. Smoke came from where I was still holding the prod. His veins looked as if they were about to burst through his skin. The smell of burnt flesh made my heart speed up inside of me.
“Oh God.” The sound of Ziora gagging and the rope loosening brought me back. I blinked slowly and rolled my shoulders, scowling down at Tommy’s lifeless body. He had released his bowels and soiled his front again. The smell caused my nose to twitch.
“Fuck, that’s gross,” River complained.
“We didn’t even get answers out of him,” Nazai mentioned.
“He wasn’t gonna talk and his disrespect toward my masterpiece couldn’t go unpunished.” For a second I glanced at Ziora. The way she watched me I couldn’t make out, but I couldn’t dwell on it either.
Dropping everything, I walked to her then grabbed her by the hair, forcing her head back and kissing her savagely. Blood rushed to my dick. The high I was on grew.
Releasing her, I licked my lips then turned to Douglas. His breathing was slow, eyes closed.
My patience was running thin.
I kicked his leg. “Wake up!” Again I kicked, this time harder.
Douglas muttered and groaned. As best as he could, he squinted.
“Help.” His words slurred and his head fell forward again.
Running my tongue over my top teeth, I rolled my shoulders back and cracked my knuckles.
“You put your hands on my masterpiece,” I growled, picking up the shrew’s fiddle and kneeling. The way he was chained was around his biceps, keeping his forearms at his sides. Grabbing one of his hands, I placed a finger between the tool, and keeping my eyes locked on his face, I closed it, cutting it clean off.
His swollen eyes shot open and a loud shrill left his mouth. Blood sputtered from his wound.
“I’m going to enjoy this,” I said, flaring my nostrils. Mutters sounded behind me but I tuned it out and focused on the task at hand.
CHAPTER 34
ZIORA
Inever knew how true the bystander effect was until today. Seeing a horrific act done and I just stood by, watching without stopping it or calling for help. I knew Ezra was off in the head but seeing him tonight was like something right out of a horror film. Ezra seemed to lose sense of reality as he went to work on Douglas and Tommy. None of the guys seemed shocked or bothered by his actions and Inaya seemed more fascinated than scared. Me, I wasn’t sure what to feel. Those guys kidnapped me. The one hit me with not only his fist but his gun as well, splitting the area over my top lip. They tried to run me off the road, and from what Tommy said, they planned to sell me off. Their end was gruesome but I couldn’t find it in me to feel sorry for them. I helped take a life today for the first time and it didn’t make me cower or feel guilty either. These were bad people who had probably hurt a lot of people.
