Page 104 of Merciless Obsession
This man.
So many things went through my mind when it came to him and I wasn’t sure how to begin to process them all.
____
“Where are we?” I asked Ezra, looking around the expensive houses surrounding us. He pulled past the gate into the long driveway and parked in the circle.
He had left me alone most of the day and was in his office, handling whatever for his current workload while I worked on Winston’s phone and doing an extensive check into his life. Winston wasn’t a smart criminal. He might have been good at hitting big heists and making money off what he stole, but he wasn’t the greatest at hiding evidence. The amount of torture-like child porn on his phone made me sick to my stomach. He was a sick sadist who loved to prey on young girls. What was bothering me was the people he got the girls from, they were like ghosts. They hid their tracks well, the phones they used were burners, names were never exchanged, and there was no face to put to the crime. I went back as far as I could in Winston’s phone and there was nothing there to help us.
“My parents’ house,” Ezra answered, gaining my attention back.
I snapped my head to the side. “What? Your parents? Why the hell are we here?”
Ezra gave me a cheeky grin before pushing his door open and making his way to my side. “Don’t you think it’s time you meet your future in-laws?”
“No. No, I don’t.” My face twisted.
I had never met anyone’s parents before. Even in my relationship a few years back, things never got that serious between us. It was one thing to meet Dominic Tavarez because there were so many things I had wrong about him and laying eyes on him seemed necessary, but meeting him and his wife as what? I wasn’t even sure.
“Who do you even plan to tell them I am?”
When he saw I made no attempts to move, Ezra leaned over me and unhooked my seat belt then paused when his face was in front of mine.
“You’re my girl, of course.”
“Your girl? When the hell did we establish that?”
That annoying grin appeared. “When I first kidnapped you, of course. I thought it was obvious. If you want, I can tell them you’re my toy instead.”
I would have laughed if the look on his face didn’t show that he was dead ass serious. In his mind I was his and we were together.
“Ezra, this is too much.”
He tilted his head. “How so?”
I glanced toward the house. “I don’t meet parents. I don’t get into serious relationships. I have sex and leave all feelings at the door.”
For a second his eyes darkened but it quickly faded. “That was before you met me. Those other mistakes don’t even exist anymore. As far as I’m concerned, I’m the only man you’ve been with and you’re mine.”
My eyes narrowed. “And what about you?”
“Anyone before you is nonexistent of course. There’s no point in acknowledging anyone else when we’re going to be together for the rest of our lives.”
I opened my mouth to speak, but couldn’t find the right words. His eyes were so intense they choked me.
“I’ll remind you every day until you no longer question it.”
He reached for my hand, pulled back, and pulled me out of the car. He led me up the stone path to the front door and pressed the doorbell. It took a little bit, but the door opened and an older, light brown woman opened the door.
“Ezra,” she said with a grin. She widened the door, allowing us in.
“Hola, Macy.” He stepped in then kissed her cheek. Her eyes went to me.
“Oh, and who is this beauty?”
“Ziora, my woman. Ziora, this is Macy, the caretaker of the house.”
I forced a smile on my face and nodded. “Hello.”
