Three Years Later . . .

“And the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series goes to . . .” Will Ferrell opened the envelope, pulled out the card, and smiled. “Heaven on the Seventh Floor.”

The audience cheered as Holly and I jumped to our feet, screaming. We hugged and kissed Rocco and Josh, then hugged each other.

Our men had the number one comedy on American television.

“I’m so proud of you,” I said, kissing Rocco again.

“Thank you, my love.” He squeezed my hand then high-fived Josh, before they walked up to the stage together. The director, the cast, the other producers, and other crew members followed closely behind.

Rocco exchanged hugs with the crew on stage, then hugged Will Ferrell before stepping up the microphone. “Wow. Thank you. This is such an honor to be standing up here this evening to accept this award on behalf of everyone who madeHeaven on the Seventh Floorthe amazing show that it is and such great fun to work on. First and foremost, I would like to thank my wife, Beth, for her love, her support, and her brother.”

The audience laughed and cheered as Rocco blew me a kiss.

I held back the tears as I blew one right back.

Josh leaned toward the microphone. “And I would like to thank my wife, Holly, for her love, her support, and her best friend’s husband.” Josh blew Rocco a kiss.

The audience laughed.

It was an amazing night, one that I would never forget, and not just because we arrived in a limo and had the opportunity to walk down the red carpet while the camera flashes went off nonstop.Heaven on the Seventh Floorended up winning seven Emmy Awards that evening, including my favorite award, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, which went to Rocco. Josh ended up taking home the awards for Outstanding Writing For A Comedy Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Directly after the awards, the network announced that they ordered two more seasons.

At the after-party with many of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities in attendance, champagne was passed around to kick off the celebration as the DJ played upbeat dance music.

Holly waived off the waiter when he held the tray of champagne in her direction. “No, thank you.”

“You should grab a glass,” Rocco said. “I want to make a toast.”

Holly frowned. “I wish I could, but . . .” She rubbed her tummy, then smiled.

I just about jumped to the ceiling. “You’re pregnant!”

She nodded emphatically and giggled. “That, I am.”

I lunged toward her and gave her a hug, then hugged Josh. “This is the best news ever.”

Rocco hugged them both as well. “I agree. Congratulations.”

I took a moment to let the good news register, then thought of something that made it even better. “I’m going to be an aunt.”

Holly smiled. “Yes, you are, Auntie Beth.”

I just couldn’t help smiling, reflecting on my life and the whirlwind turns it had taken since I had met Rocco. Everything was falling into place perfectly, and I was even more thrilled for Josh and Holly.

They had gotten married a year after he proposed to her at the comedy club. Since Josh was already hard at work at that time writing scripts for the sitcom, they waited until the hiatus after the first season to go on their honeymoon.

They chose Italy, of all places, and insisted that we join them, which we did.

That was when I got the surprise of my life.
