And that’s when I saw him.
I blinked a couple of times. “Oh. My. Word.”
My eyes had to be deceiving me. No way.
“That’s the car fromGrease!” someone yelled.
The convertible top was down on the Ford De Luxe and Rocco was standing up in the backseat with a microphone in his hand. Marcello was driving the car, a big smile on his face.
Rocco’s hair was slicked back and he wore a white T-shirt with a black leather jacket.
He was dressed as Danny Zuko fromGrease, and he looked magnificent.
I just about lost it when he began singing “Sandy.”
It became more difficult to breathe as the car came closer and closer.
The car stopped and Rocco’s eyes were searching the crowd.
I didn’t blink—I couldn’t have if I’d tried. That was when I remembered I’d told Rocco I wanted a guy who cared about me so much he had to sing about it.
He cared.
Talk about a declaration.
Without realizing it, I had left my booth unattended, making my way closer until I ended up about fifty feet from the sidewalk and the street. There were so many people surrounding the car at that point I couldn’t get any closer.
That was when he spotted me.
Our gazes locked.
Rocco was singing to me and only me, and his voice was divine.
He was pouring his heart out and I couldn’t take much more.
I finally blinked. My eyes tightened and burned when he pointed to me and changed the last two words of the song from “Oh, Sandy” to “Oh, Beth.”
I let out a deep breath.
I needed him closer, within arm’s reach.
“Beth!” Rocco said, pointing to me. “I choose you! I’ll always choose you!”
I savored his words as a wave of warmth rushed through my body.
It was all I needed to know at that moment.
Nothing else mattered in the world to me.
Tears flooded my eyes, my emotions impossible to control any longer.
Then the unexpected happened.
The crowd turned around and followed Rocco’s pointing hand.
Everyone was staring at me.
I swallowed hard, unable to move my body, but wanting to be so close to Rocco.
