“Lumi, I…” I got out of the water too. “That mornin’ was focked up, but we moved on from it, and we agreed to never speak of it again.”
“Exactly. So stop saying things that will confuse me.”
“I’m not confusin’ ye. I’m just stating a fact.”
“Where’s the key?” Lumi pulled me to our clothes, which lay on a sunbed.
“My right pocket,” I instructed. “But you can’t unlock them just because you don’t like the topic. The whole idea with the handcuffs is to make ye stay and work things out.”
With her jaw set in stone, she hissed low. “I have to use the bathroom.”
It annoyed me that she was running away from a conflict, but Lumi had already found the key. Her hands were shaking as she used it. “I might need a long while in the bathroom, so don’t come looking. It feels like major food poisoning. I’ll come back when I’m ready.”
“Ye’re lyin’ through yer teeth, lass,” I called after her as Lumi practically ran away from me.
Scratching my neck, I went back to sitting on the edge of the pool in the sun. Liv and little Saffron were at the zoo with friends. Charles was working in his office. This day had been such a perfect opportunity to help Lumi let loose a little, but ever since she woke up this morning, she’d been in a weird mood, and the call from the US hadn’t helped.
I thought about her words about my finding her fuckable but not worthy of a relationship, and instantly, my thought went back to the morning after we made love.
The Morning After Damian’s Thirtieth Birthday Party – Nine Years Ago
I could hear Lumi in the kitchen when I woke up. She was humming.
My head felt like a woodpecker had attacked me during the night, and my throat felt like sandpaper.
Rolling onto my side, I reached for my clothes on the floor, and that’s when I saw the spot on the floor.
Lumi’s white rug had a small red smudge from the condom I’d dropped to the floor last night. I lifted the condom and studied it before I turned to examine the bed.
Lumi had asked me to be her first lover, but that was a year and a half ago. Last night, I had felt that she was inexperienced from the way she kissed, but I hadn’t been sure if I was her first.
The sheet had spots of blood too, but I still couldn’t be sure if she’d had her period or it was blood from her hymen. I dressed and carried the condom with me to the kitchen, where I threw it out and washed my hands.
Lumi was making breakfast and looked gorgeous in her silk dress that clung to her body with one strap falling down her shoulder. From her wet hair, I guessed that she had already showered.
She was so perfect. Why the hell couldn’t she be five years older and not related to the Robertson family?
“Are you hungry?” She flashed a bright smile at me.
“Very.” Walking up behind her, I kissed her neck and smacked her perfect butt. It made her laugh, and it struck me how free and flirtatious she was at that moment.
“How do ye feel?” I asked her.
“Good! I want to do what we did last night all day today.”
“Ye’re not sore?”
“A little, but I still want more.” She backed her butt into me, and my dick hardened from the mere contact with her perfect globes.
“Let me just use your bathroom to freshen up, and then we’ll take it from there.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
I gave her a last bump and grind, and then I walked into her small bathroom and cleaned myself up, rinsing my mouth with mouthwash and toothpaste.
My phone kept buzzing in my pocket, so I pulled it out and stared when there were twenty-four messages from Siobhan.
Scrolling through them, I read one from early this morning that said she had changed her mind and didn’t want us to break up after all.
