Three hours ago, Siobhan and I had danced and laughed together. Now she was gone.

I should run after her, shouldn’t I?

My body felt heavier than ever, and the only thing I could do was move my arm to pull my phone from my pocket.

It was 3:45 in the morning.

I sighed and leaned my head against the couch.

Why did all the women I dated lose their effin’ mind over Lumi? It wasn’t like I’d told them that she offered her virginity to me.

I deserved a medal for doing the right thing and saying no, but all I got was Megan and Siobhan’s shite about me being in love with Lumi.

My hands played with my cell phone. Lumi’s name popped up when I searched for her. She too had been furious at me when she left.

The scenario with Lumi and me in the bathroom had played on a loop in my head all night. Her words that she wasn’t looking for a husband, but a strong guy who could throw her around and give her dirty raw sex, had me groaning out loud as I wrote her a text.

Damian: Are you awake?

My fingers pressed send before I had time to process how bad of an idea it was to reach out to Lumi in my current state of mind.

Her answer came right away.

Lumi: Yes.

Damian: So you want dirty raw sex?

Lumi: Is that so wrong?

I stared at her question. No, it wasn’t wrong. She was a grown woman who deserved to be worshipped by a man, and for eighteen months, I’d imagined what it would feel like to be that man. If Lumi were ready to give herself to wankers like Logan, then she’d be better off with me. At least I loved her and would do everything in my power to make the experience satisfying for her.

Damian: Even if it doesn’t come with a relationship?

Lumi: What are you asking?

Damian: You know what I’m asking, or rather offering

I could see she was typing, but it took a full minute before her text ticked in.

Lumi: My answer is yes

My foot tapped on the floor as my primal mind took over.

Damian: I’m leaving now. I’ll be at your apartment in ten minutes.

Lumi’s apartment was close to Trinity College, where she studied. It wasn’t big, but at least she had privacy.

“Hey,” Lumi said when she opened the door and let me in. Her long black hair hung loose around her shoulders, and she was wearing a short silk nightdress that looked like something from the sexy lingerie department.

I didn’t want to talk or overthink what we were doing. Closing the door behind me, I locked it and bent down to pick Lumi up on my hips with an obscene sexual hunger for her.

“Did you bring protection?” she whispered in my ear as I moved us the eight steps into her bedroom.

I gave a single nod and pressed my face against her neck. Lumi’s scent of flowers and innocence had me growling low in my throat.

“Are ye sure ye want this?” I asked in a low, raw voice.

“I’m more than sure.” Lumi cupped my face and kissed away my last shred of sensibility.
