I’ve drawn upon the Hindi language for a lot of the words in Lost and Stolen Gods as the world is loosely based on Hindu mythology, so here is a glossary to make things a little easier. I’ve added pronunciation where I’m able. I’ll be adding to the glossary as needed with each book in the series. I hope it helps.
Words and Phrases.
Aadha Rakht : (Ah-tha Raa-cut) half-blood. Sometimes used as a derogatory term.
Chaturanga : (chut-u-rung-a) chess
Dharti : (Dhar- tee) earth
Ghar : (Gur) house
Guru : (Goo- Roo) teacher
Ilaaka : (Ill- ah-car) territories
Jadu : (jaa-doo)magic
Jodi : (Jaw-ree) a mystical bond between demigod and drohi
Kshetra : (Shay-tra) domain
Pareekshan : (Par -eek- shun) tests
Prakshikshan : (Pra- shik- shun) training
Tantrik : (Th-ahn-trick) mage
Creatures and supernatural beings
Ankh : (aan-k) invisible watchers that monitor the demigods
Asura : (Ah- soor- a) children of Diti
Danava : (dah–nuv) children of Danu
Demigods : humans with the blood of gods in their veins
Deva : (Day-va) children of Aditi. They no longer inhabit this world.
Asura, Deva, and Danava are all gods, their bloodlines related as Danu, Diti, and Aditi, the mother of the gods, were sisters.
Drohi : (Draw- hee) the offspring of Danava and djinn
Pavan Savar : (Pow-one Suh- Vaar) wind riders. The thunderbirds that are mounts for the drohi.
Pishacha (Pee-sha-cha) feed on flesh and use their victims’ souls as batteries
Rakshasa : (Raak– shus) shapeshifters
Revenants : were once gods and are now infected by the devouring force
Shakti : (Shuck -tee) the trinity of power that the gods defer to
Stolen gods : gods who have been infected by the devouring force
The Devouring Force : belongs to the primordial evil and does its bidding
The Primordial Evil : The first evil. It has been locked away in a mystical prison whose walls are slowly crumbling.
Yaksha : (Yuck–shh) nature spirits
Weapons and objects
Astra : (aars-tra) specialized weaponry such as guided missiles of mass destruction
Chakra : (Chuck–ra) discs
Dhanush and Shara : (Dhan–oosh and Sahara ) bows and launchers
Gada : (Ger -da) mace
Khadga : (Cud-ghee) sword
Parashu : (Par-shoo) two-headed axe
Shula (Shool-a) spear
Shastra : (Shay-tra) conventional armament like bows, shields, swords, etc…
Vajra : ( Vaj-ra) divine weapon once wielded by Indra. It was destroyed.

Aakaash Sansaar : (Ah-carsh Sun-saar) sky world
Danava Kshetra : (dah–nuv Shay-tra) Danava Domain. Now ruled by the Asura
Dharti Ghar : (Dhar- tee Gur) House of Earth
Paani Ghar : (Pa-nee Gur) House of Water
Patala : (Putt-la) realm of the naga
Pavan Ghar : (Pow-one Gur) House of Air
Shahee Kshetra : (Shy-he Shay-tra) Royal Asura domain consists of the following houses: Dharti Ghar, Pani Ghar, and Pavan Ghar
Vidya Tower : (Vid- ya Tower) the library
