Page 52 of Losing My Siren Luna (Hidden Cove #1)

“That wasn’t nice,” I scolded my husband, spanking his thigh. I watched and saw Cherum pulling himself up from the ground, growling as he pulled a thorny branch out of his shirt and another from his beard.

“He called me a gritty bastard,” he huffs, “He deserved it.”

I sigh, deciding fighting him is futile. I rested my chin in my hand, my elbow propped on his back and making me jerk with every hurried step. I will wait for him to finish his little game. I won. I know I did, but if winning is that important to him, I’ll just go along with it.

Lachlan runs all the way through the training grounds, earning us many questioning looks.

Cherum must have given up the chase. He is no longer following us and I lost sight of him back in the garden after he crashed into the bush.

He really doesn’t have a chance of catching us at this point anyway.

Lachlan's stubborn determination is nothing to take lightly.

“ Our mate is too strong,” Val gushes.

“ More like he is too stubborn. Like a mule. I darned pack mule with the way he's carrying me.” I huff, making her laugh with amusement.

Lachlan runs all the way to our room, only slowing down to open the door. When we get inside, he tosses me on the bed, making me grunt in annoyance at the jarring action, then throws both of his hands in the air triumphantly.

“I win!” He grins, looking like an adorable child with a small accomplishment.

“Sure you did,” I chuckled at him, shaking my head.

He bends over me, his panting breath mixing with mine. “I want my prize now.”

“I hope you feel honorable, cheating the way you did,” I teased him.

“Dishonor feels just fine right now,” he smirks before pressing his lips to mine. He moans in appreciation, making my heart hammer loudly in my chest. Val is doing back-flips, loving the way the bond is erupting inside of us.

When his lips start to move sensually, urging my bottom lip between his, I feel like I’m melting.

My hands pressed against his chest, began to grip his shirt, bringing his body closer to mine.

He anchors himself on his forearms, not touching me, but I can feel the heat of his large frame above me.

The bond is coursing through my veins, begging for more, but my mind still isn’t ready for that yet.

I barely feel ready for this, but it feels too good to stop.

When his tongue caresses against the seal of my lips, I gasp from the tingling sensation that it causes, and his tongue gently caresses against mine.

He tastes surprisingly sweet and minty, making me whimper for more.

I don’t know what has come over me, but I want more.

I want the sensation of the bond to overtake me, making me forget everything else but the man treating me so tenderly, like I have never felt before.

We kiss for what feels like an eternity, and at the same time, no time at all. When he gently pulls away, resting his forehead on mine, I miss the contact instantly.

“I truly love you, my Lira,” he whispered hoarsely.

I feel it. I can feel his love in every one of his actions today, in each and every word. I can’t say I reciprocate his feelings, but I feel like I could. Not today, but some day. Someday soon.

We stay like that, just breathing in each other’s expelled breaths for some time before he pulls away from me, gripping my hands and pulling me up to a sitting position on the bed.

“I really should take you to dinner now,” he sighs. “I’m sure I’ll be getting an ear full from Cherum too. The gritty bastard probably got an ass full of thorns.”

“Poor Cherum,” I giggled, “You should doctor it for him to help it get better.”

He snorts. “I’m going nowhere near his ass or red curly pubic hair. He will have to find someone else to nurse him back to feeling better.”

“I guess I should offer my services,” I sighed, standing at my feet, “I am the reason he was chasing you so enthusiastically.”

Lachlan, or maybe even Killian, growls at my suggestions, making me giggle again.

“You will be going nowhere near his ass either. I’ll get Nilo to help him.”

“Is that part of the Beta duties?” I grinned.

“It is now, if it keeps my wife from trying to do such a task.”

“Maybe Nilo needs to be pitied more than Cherum then.”

“I think the only man you should put that much thought and feelings towards should be me, your husband,” Lachlan grumbles.

“My dishonorable cheating husband?” I smirked as we walked down the hall towards the great hall for dinner.

We are nearly an hour late now, but I’m sure they will still have something for us.

Cherum likely saved food for me. I doubt he would have done the same for Lachlan though.

I’ll take pity on him and share my food if that happens.

“I wasn’t cheating. I was being strategic.”

“Strategically dishonorable?” I lifted a brow.

“Strategically cunning,” he grins, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. “I got my kiss.”

My face heats at the reminder. “I think it’s only fair that I also get my prize as well.”

“Of course,” he kissed the top of my head. “I’ll put the pitiable Nilo in charge tomorrow and we can take the entire day to do whatever you wish.”

I clap my hands excitedly. “Can we go to the orphanage and swim with the kids too?” Little Westley told me he didn’t know how to swim and I have been longing to teach him. The orphan boy thinks very highly of his Alpha and would be ecstatic if I brought Lachlan with me.

“If that is what you wish,” Lachlan looks warmly down at me.
