Tonight was a success by epic proportions.

Lydia thoroughly enjoyed her birthday. In fact, in front of me now Lydia swayed slightly as she walked with us back to the car.

After our elaborate birthday/engagement party, Corretta stopped being the forgotten side character and made Lydia and I line dance with her while she kept refreshing our drinks.

Finn joined us a couple of times, but once we reached the tipsy dancing stage he bowed out.

Sorren and Graham remained too close to us while playing against each other in several different games.

I think I saw them go from black jack, to darts, and air hockey.

“You did a great job organizing all of this. Mind you though, next year we’re planning our omegas’ birthdays.” Graham said, sliding his hand around my waist and briefly kissing me on the cheek. I wrapped my own arm around him.

“You guys totally are. It’s a lot of work planning a party like this.

I need a year-long vacay.” I snorted back my response.

When we reached the car, I closed my eyes wanting to soak in the feelings and bliss I could feel through all of my bonds.

Lydia’s in particular was a warm buzzing sensation.

I was so absorbed by the sensation I hadn’t noticed someone coming up to us.

“You know you’re one hard omega to track down.” An unfamiliar voice said. At the sound of the voice, Lydia’s emotions took a harsh drop. Finn’s emotions also interestingly dropped too. In fact all my pack’s moods seemed to have dropped at these men's arrival.

“What are you doing here?” Finn asked. His voice was harsh and cold, but I could also feel his fear and nervousness through our bond. Wanting to know who was causing these emotions I opened my eyes to see three alphas in front of us. Two of them looked familiar as well.

“What? Not happy to see one of your school friends? We used to be really close in middle school.” The unfamiliar alpha said with a mock pout. Finn’s mood darkened at the man’s words.

“We were never friends, especially after the stunt you pulled during that hurricane.” Finn said, folding his arms. Finn may be good at acting, but I could tell he was freaking out inside. Who were these guys ?

“What are you doing here, Connor?” Lydia asked, stepping a little closer to Sorren who was the nearest to her.

The happy buzz she had was gone and in its place was a nervous displeasure.

Connor, where have I heard? Like a lightbulb going on in my head I realized who these guys were.

They were the pack that Lydia rejected. Realizing the danger Lydia could be in, I stepped in front of her just enough for her to still see them, but the jerks couldn’t get to her.

“Unless you're here to congratulate Lydia on finding her new pack. I suggest you leave before we make you. Last time I checked Graham told you to leave us alone.” I said, staring daggers at the men. The second tallest of alphas huffed at my threat. Apparently he didn’t think it meant anything coming from me.

“I thought I made it clear I didn’t want to see you guys again.” Lydia said, sounding just as annoyed as I was. Connor’s attention drifted from me back to Lydia. A fake ass smile appeared on his face.

“Oh come on Lydia don’t be like that. It was a simple mistake. We’ve learned our lesson. Why don’t we start over again?” Connor said in a voice that had me roll my eyes.

“Are you serious right now? You cheat on me and then send creepy and mean messages and you think that means you can ask me to try again.” Lydia scoffed.

Before I had realized it our pack had formed a circle around Lydia and I.

We were all connected in this and I loved the unconditional support they were giving Lydia.

Connor’s eyes flashed with annoyance, but it was quickly gone.

I don’t know what play he was starring in, but he’d be a terrible poker player.

“Don’t be like that. I saw you at that gala a month ago.

I saw what you looked like when you saw me with that omega.

Face it, Lydia, you still care for us. Come back to us, we’re destined to be together.

” The second tallest alpha said. The way he softened his voice had me wanting to stab my eardrums.

“I did care about you. That stopped once you cheated on me. You knew how much I valued trust, communication, and honesty. Instead of coming to me about your vices you decided to sleep with some strange omega. I’m bonded now.

To a pack that cares not only about me, but the light of life.

They are my happy ever after, not you.” Lydia shot back.

Her eyes softened for a moment when she mentioned our pack.

I glanced back at her to see she was holding Finn’s hand.

With the storm going on in his mind, her hand was the only thing keeping him in place.

We needed to get rid of these guys, so Lydia and I could take care of Finn.

“That isn’t fair, Lydia. You know damn well how hard it is for a scent matched alpha to resist their omega.

We had to go or else we might’ve taken advantage of you.

You can’t honestly expect us to not touch you during your heat.

” The smallest man shouted. His words had me opening my mouth, but Lydia started speaking before I could .

“Damn straight, I excepted you guys too. I should be able to trust my pack, my alphas, to not touch me when I don’t want them to.

It’s my body not yours. I don’t have to give you anything I don’t want you to have and I should be able to trust you to respect that.

” She yelled back. At this point, the alphas had stopped wearing facades.

They must have realized they weren’t going to convince Lydia to go with them.

“You belong with us, Lydia. You need to come with us.” Connor demanded, I’m sure that if Lydia hadn’t mentioned she was bonded he might have tried to command her to go with them.

“You heard her. She doesn’t want to go with you.

You should respect that and leave with dignity before I have the police called.

” Graham said, stepping in front of the entire pack.

His usual friendliness was gone and what replaced it was 100% alpha dominance.

I could see Connor flinch at the sheer energy Graham was giving off.

If he directed that energy towards me I might have kneeled right there in submission.

“Let’s talk plainly. You don’t want Lydia back at all.

You're trying to get back in your Daddy’s good graces because he heard about your mishap.

Did he revoke your inheritance? Poor baby can’t make your own money without Daddy’s help?

How sad is that?” Graham taunted Connor.

Connor had grown angier and angier at Graham’s obvious attempt to antagonize him.

Before I processed what happened, Connor had taken a swing at Graham. I heard Lydia gasp at the motion. He hit him square on the cheek. You would expect someone to step back or fall over with the strength of that punch, but Graham didn’t. He remained as still as a statue.

“Are you happy now? Do you feel good about that?” Graham taunted again. I was about to tackle the man myself for hurting my alpha, but someone had grabbed my arm holding me back.

“Fuck you!” Connor yelled. Looking ferocious at this point.

“What’s going on here?” Corretta called out from behind the Jameson Pack. She was supposed to have headed to her apartment by now.

“What are you doing here?” I asked her. She looked from me to the Jameson pack as she walked around to us.

“I remembered I needed to tell Lydia something so I came back. What’s going on?” She explained as she joined my side. I leaned down to whisper in her ear.

“Graham and Lydia’s former pack are having a standoff.” I explained to her. Her expression went serious as we returned our attention back to the two opposing alphas.

“No thanks, you're not my type. Did you get that Sorren?” Graham glanced back to look at him. Now that I could see his face, I could see a large red spot on his cheek. Shaking the hand off my arm, I walked up to Graham and rubbed the red splotch on his cheek lightly .

“Yep, and already sent it to our lawyer.” Sorren replied, shaking his phone in the air to show us the text conservation. Graham took my hand gently and returned his focus back to Connor.

“You heard him. Come near us or Lydia again and I’ll have my lawyer take you to court and have that video sent to a reporter. I’m sure your dad won't be happy about the bad press.” Graham stated plainly. He turned back to us with a smile. “Let’s head home.”

I think all of us were so stunned by how Graham dealt with Connor and his pack mates that we all just did what we were told.

Corretta said a quick goodbye to us and headed back to her apartment.

Finn offered to talk with her after the aftermath, but she refused, saying she wanted to clear her head.

Not even Connor said anything as we entered our vehicle and left, but I did notice how hard he was clenching his hands.

Graham hummed to the radio the entire way home while the rest of us were in stunned silence.

Lydia and I had Finn in between us in the back seat.

We made sure to lean on him to comfort him.

“Let’s go to the nest.” Lydia said simply when we stepped into our home.

We all nodded in agreement and went to our separate rooms to change before we reunited in the nest. Lydia and I had Finn get in the middle with us surrounding him.

Graham was next to Lydia and Sorren was next to me.

We all took a moment to process what happened when Lydia spoke again.

“Do you think they’ll keep bothering me?” Lydia asked with a bit of nervousness.

“If they do, they'll regret it.” Graham replied with firm confidence. Lydia hummed in thought, but didn’t say anything else regarding the topic.

“Finn, I’m sorry.” She said, changing the subject.

“What for?” He asked quizzically.

“For being scent matched with them, I guess. I wasn’t the one who bullied you when you were a child, but I was close to them once.

If they come back because of me, you’ll have to relive those memories again.

” Lydia explained. Her scent was dark and spicy, speaking to the guilt she felt about this fact.

Finn and I got up into a sitting position, but when I opened my mouth to deny her way of thinking, Finn spoke before I could.

“You shouldn’t feel bad about that. You couldn’t control who your scent matched to, none of us could.

So, don’t feel guilty about something you can’t change.

If they do come back then we will deal with it.

I won’t blame you for something like that.

Never.” He said, firmly. I watched him lean down to, I assume, kiss Lydia.

“Now stop overthinking with that cute head of yours.” He teased her before laying back down and crushing her to his side. I huffed in satisfaction before following suit.

“Thank you for the amazing birthday party and my rings.” Lydia spoke again. She sounded sleepier than she had earlier .

“No need to thank us, it was a pleasure.” Sorren said from behind me. We were all so exhausted that we went to sleep soon after.

It must have only been a few hours that I’ve been asleep, because when I awoke it was still dark with most everyone still in the nest. Lydia was the only one missing.

Getting up to go find her, I did my best to tiptoe around my sleeping pack.

It took several minutes of search, but I finally managed to locate her out on the back porch looking up at the stars.

I grabbed the blanket on the couch and headed outside to join her.

“Couldn’t sleep?” I asked. She looked back at me as I wrapped the blanket around her.

“Yeah something like that. A lot of thoughts were pooling around in my head and I wanted to organize them before I went back to bed.” She explained. I sat beside her and nodded in understanding. We returned to the quiet as we stared at the stars. It was Lydia who spoke first.

“You were right.” She said, still looking up at the night sky.

“About what?” I asked with a slight smile. I had a feeling I knew what she was getting at, but I wanted to hear her say it.

“I am enough. For this pack, for you, for me, for love. I’m glad I met you that day and I’m glad I chose to have faith in another pack. Without you, I don’t think I’d have the courage to do this again or confront Connor and them.” She explained looking back at me.

“I’m glad to have met you as well. I have scent matches, but you're my life. No one could ever replace you. It’s us two till the end.

” I said. Lydia’s face was filled with love and warmth.

That darkness that had once replaced the light in her eyes was completely gone.

Without much thought Lydia and I leaned toward each other.

We met each other in the end, joining in a kiss.

It was slow and gentle. It held all our feelings and experiences together.

This kiss was a promise, a pledge, a vow to stay together forever.

“Looks like they started without us.” Sorren voice broke our moment. I glared at him.

“We were having a moment.” I said. I could hear Lydia chuckle next to me. Graham and Finn appeared next to Sorren.

“I told you to wait.” Finn said, hitting Sorren on the head with his hand.

“Sorry, we tried to hold him back.” Graham said with a slight chuckle. For some reason, I didn’t believe him.

“Uh-huh.” I said with a narrow gaze as I slipped over to make more room. Within minutes Lydia and I were surrounded by our pack. The feelings of warmth, love and happiness bussed through the bond. I was sure that whatever came next in our lives we would handle it together.
