Page 4 of Knot Enough (Fruity Omegas #1)

Confusion appeared on my face. I looked to Gabriel to ask what the problem was when I noticed his face.

His pupils widened, and his nose flared like he was trying to breathe in whatever scent was in the air.

I looked at the other three Alphas. All their eyes were dark and focused squarely on Gabriel.

All four of them looked exactly the same as when I found my scent match: Son of the Biscuits.

My heart dropped. Gabriel had found his scent matches.

We had always talked about what would happen when he did, but the odds were so low I had hoped that wouldn’t happen.

It might have made me a terrible mate, but I wanted Gabriel to be happy, even if that meant being with his scent matches and not me.

I would find happiness in that, even if that meant I didn’t have a place in his life anymore.

It was a stupid thought because we had already bitten each other, and that type of bond couldn’t be broken, but the parasite of fear and worry didn’t care.

Gabriel, probably noticing my change in mood, pulled me tighter in his arms before I could escape.

“My dear, it looks like I found my scent matches," he said, nuzzling his head into my neck, where his mark was hidden behind my ear. I glanced at the alphas, and they silently watched our interaction. I couldn’t make out their expressions.

“It seems you have. What do you want to do?” I asked, unable to resist playing with his hair to calm myself down. Internally I was freaking out, but externally I couldn’t show it. I wouldn’t ruin this for him.

“It depends. Do they want to court us?” Gabriel asked, moving his head to glance at all three of them while maintaining contact with my neck. I noticed the slight nervousness in his eyes as he asked the question. Scent matches don’t usually reject one another, but there are always exceptions.

“Wait, so this amazing scent is yours? Not hers?” The lanky Alpha asked.

“Yes. Due to circumstances, Lydia’s scent is not working right now. Is that a problem?” Gabriel asked with his brow raised.

“No, absolutely not! I was just surprised.” The Alpha replied quickly.

“Both of you?” The tallest one asked. Now that I’m closer to all three of them, I could feel the dominance radiating off this man.

Despite the smile on the man’s face, it was apparent he was someone you wouldn't want to make angry. His presence continued to unsettle me. I couldn’t get a read on this man or his emotions.

It wasn’t a bad feeling, but I’d never met a man like him before, and I wasn’t sure how to act.

“Of course, we are chosen mates, after all.” Gabriel untied his tie to show off the bite I had made right on his collarbone.

I smiled at the memory of that night. We didn’t make it a big event; only he and I were there at night under the stars.

It was spur of the moment, but it was the happiest moment of my life.

All three Alphas’ scents increased at the sight of the mark.

I had no doubt they were all thinking about where they would put their marks if they got the chance.

They were so mixed together it was hard to tell one part from the other, but I liked it.

“You can’t have me without her.” He said firmly, wrapping his arms around me.

My heart warmed at his words. Gabriel and I were forever, but watching him take pride and importance in our bond despite having scent matches was an omega’s every dream.

All three alphas looked at each other. I didn't care if the pack and I never developed a relationship.

I had all I needed in Gabriel; as long as they allowed our relationship, they could ignore me for all I cared.

I have had enough of scent matches and courting to last a lifetime.

“I’m fine with the idea.” The sandy brown-haired Alpha said, looking excitedly at Gabriel and me.

I could smell Gabriel’s scent lighten at the Alpha’s words.

It had become darker since he asked the question of courting.

His scent and his anxiety through the bond had started to put me on edge as well.

“I’ll submit an offer of interest to the Omega institution then.

Who will I be submitting it for?” The tallest Alpha said looking deep in thought.

For a pack to officially court an omega staying at the omega institution, they must submit a formal letter of interest for the specific omega or omegas.

The institution will give the omega the letter and the Alphas’ portfolio for the omegas to review.

“Lydia and Gabriel,” I said, keeping my tone even. This was the furthest Gabriel and I have gotten since becoming bonded. It was freaking me out a little how real this was becoming.

The Alpha nodded with a smile. “Expect a letter from the Beckett pack shortly.” He finished, looking down at his watch.

I glanced at the clock in the room to find it was nearly time for the event to end.

Harsh penalties were given to packs who didn’t follow the rules of the omega institution.

One rule being leaving on time. I could practically feel their reluctance as they exited the room.

Gabriel and I didn’t take our eyes off them till the door closed.

Once the latch clicked, Gabriel had me in his arms and twirled me in the air.

“We did it! We finally found them!” He said excitedly, letting me go to spin around on his own.

I smiled as I watched him hug himself in happiness.

I was happy for him, for us. They seem like good people, but I worry about my place there with them.

Once they get a chance to meet and develop their relationship, will there be a home for me?

Was I just a passing fascination for Gabriel while he searched for his scent matches?

I remember what happened when I met mine.

It was instant fascination and attraction.

Would I matter after the storm of emotions and hormones?

I gripped my arms, except it wasn’t in happiness but fear.

Gabriel, of course, notices my change in emotions through the bond and comes over to me immediately.

I feel his warm arms around me. My eyes squeeze shut and I breathe in as much of his scent as possible.

“You know my feelings for you won’t change no matter what happens next, " he says as he pulls his head down to touch foreheads with me. Staring into his eyes, I could see and feel the depth of his love for me. My anxiety slowly slipped away the longer I stared into his eyes and felt the feelings he was sending my way. I closed my eyes and leaned my head against his chest. I hope he’s right.

“Let’s get you out of here. We’ve had a long day.

” Gabriel whispered before picking me up bridal style.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and nuzzled my face into his neck, enjoying his scent and warmth.

We ignored the stares we got as we left the building.

It was rare for two omegas to bond like we had, and people would often stare at us when they realized what we were.

Neither of us cared what people thought about our relationship.

We were both crucial people to each other; that was all that mattered.

It was close to midnight when we returned to our dorm room.

I let Gabriel undress my large dress before he carried me off to the nest we had in another room.

He tucked me into bed before leaving to change out of his tux.

We spent the rest of the night snuggled in the nest while we cuddled each other.
