I woke up hard. My dreams were plagued by the night Sorren and I took Gabriel.
His scent, the little noises he’d make, the way he would cling to us.
It was all intoxicating. Sorren and I hadn’t planned on taking Gabriel in a dark alleyway, but the tension throughout the game and Gabriel’s blatant challenge brought us to a near rut.
Since I couldn’t sleep with this hard on I decided to make an early run to my shop to work on a few cars.
Graham and Sorren could put their careers on hold, but my job still needed me to be around.
I managed to fix two cars and have them ready for pick up before heading back home and showering.
My body had thankfully calmed down by then.
That was until I entered the nest again and the combination of all our blended scents hit me in the nose.
It didn’t help that I was now spooning this tantalizing omega.
I could see the lines from where his smile wrinkles his face.
He had these adorable dimples you could only see if he smiled with his full mouth.
He was a beautiful man and Lydia was just fascinating.
My eyes remained closed, wanting to enjoy this peaceful moment before everyone decided to wake up and start their day.
I was content to continue breathing in Gabriel’s scent when I heard movement from the other side of the nest. Graham didn’t have work for once, so I knew he wouldn’t get up anytime soon.
That man could compete with the dead. I heard a small yawn and stretching.
The voice gave away that it was Lydia. I opened my eyes a fraction to watch her untangle from the limbs around her and move out of the nest. I watched her walk softly to the bathroom and close the door.
The shower started, and after several minutes, she returned with new pajamas on and wet hair.
I grunted as I pulled myself up into a sitting position. Lydia jumped slightly at my movement.
“You're up.” She said.
“Yep,” I replied, leaving the nest to stand before her. “Let me dry your hair.” I offered, taking a lock in my hands and squeezing it. “It’s still soaking wet.” She looked at me for a moment before nodding. She went back into the bathroom and returned with a comb and a hair dryer.
“Let’s go in my room so we don’t wake the others.
” She nodded again and followed after me.
I sat her on my bed and plugged the dryer into an outlet nearby.
We should have probably done this in the bathroom, but I wanted an excuse to have her scent on my bed and in my room.
Lydia moved the towel off her head to reveal her bundle of hair.
I started the dryer and stroked my fingers through her hair to help prevent it from tangling.
I noticed as I repeated the action that Lydia’s scent got sweeter.
It was similar to how an omega’s scent changed when aroused, but different.
This sweetness told me she was happy or relaxed at my touch.
I internally preened at the fact she liked what I was doing.
Her reaction fed the hunger of an alpha wanting to take care of their omega.
Once her hair was dried to my satisfaction, I unplugged the hair dryer and set it down on my night table.
Sitting back on the bed, I started brushing her hair.
This was the first time I noticed how long, dark, and silky it was.
I could tell from touching the strands that she took good care of it.
Both of us remained quiet, enjoying the presence of each other.
I finished her hair after several minutes.
I went to get up to put away the brush and dryer when Lydia turned and touched my arm.
Her fingers held my arm so lightly I could easily brush her off if I wanted to.
I looked into her eyes to find two emotions warring with each other.
Remaining silent, I waited for her to speak.
“Can I kiss you?” She whispered. Her voice was quiet and soft, like water droplets on a lake’s surface. I returned to my spot on the bed. I nodded, not wanting to break this moment with her. She moved around me, placing her legs on either side of mine. She faced me while sitting on my lap.
“This okay?” I asked, moving my hands to her waist. I didn’t want her to think she had to force herself to do something she didn’t want to. She looked up at me, her face reddening from embarrassment.
“I want to do this.” She said with soft determination. I nodded again. I remained still as I waited for her to make the first move. She glanced from my lips to my eyes and back down.
“Can you close your eyes?” She asked, embarrassed.
“And keep your hands on my hips.” She continued.
In response, I closed my eyes and tightened my grip on her waist. At first, I felt just a light touch on my lips.
My hands clenched at the sensation. She moved a second time, this time with more confidence and purpose.
She licked along my lower lip, asking for entrance.
I groaned against her mouth as I opened my lips to let her in.
Our tongues played together in a passionate dance.
She moaned against me, and her scent thickened as it filled the room.
My hands twitched with the urge to run across her body, but I focused my attention on our tongues.
We continued this back and forth for god knows how long until she moved away.
We stared at each other as we caught our breath. I’m sure my face was just as red as hers. She pulled me with her to lay side by side on the bed. Her fingers traced a line along my cheek as we enjoyed each other just being here.
“Thank you.” She declared. Her voice was quiet and relaxed .
“For what?” I asked, perplexed by what she should be thankful for.
“For not moving your hands. I like kissing. I always have, but I rarely got to do it with partners.” She admitted, looking away from me. I moved her chin slightly to get her attention.
“Did someone try to force you? Was it your previous pack?” I questioned. If her previous pack had done something to her, there would be hell to pay. She stiffened and looked away.
“No, yes? It was nothing more than slight touching, but I also just never trusted anyone to not do something I didn’t want.
Gabriel is the exception, but I always felt like if I had tried to make out with him, I’d be too much to handle.
” She explained. I could see her reasoning.
I may never fully understand what she goes through, but I can certainly understand being worried about asking too much from a partner only for them to think you're too much. Hell will come to her previous pack for doing the thing they did to her, but there was no need to ruin the moment with my rage. Instead I wanted to show her she wasn’t alone in her fear.
“I’m afraid of rain and small spaces,” I admitted. I didn't want to talk about this part of me, but I wouldn’t let her be the only one making a confession. Her eyes were wide in realization.
“Is that why you always drive a motorcycle? Is it because you are afraid of being in a car?” She asked. I nodded, turning onto my back.
“When I was a teenager, I would deliver papers for my neighborhood. Our town was so small we didn’t have the money for a proper mailman.
Well, I had this radio my mom bought me.
She wanted me to use it. She used the bonus from her end-of-the-year check to buy it for me.
One week during tornado season, my radio disappeared.
” I said, only stopping when I heard her breathe in a gasp. Horror filled her eyes.
“I didn’t know then, but the bully who would regularly attack Graham, Sorren, and me had taken my radio.
I was too ashamed to tell my mom, so I delivered papers without her knowing about the radio.
One day, it was really cloudy. I thought it would be light rain, but the longer I delivered papers, the worse the rain got.
I realized I needed to find cover once I saw a branch fly across the street.
I managed to find a small drain pipe that was lifted a couple inches off the ground so the water wouldn’t get into it.
I squeezed myself in it and waited for the storm to pass.
” I took a breath. This part of the story was easy.
I have repeated it thousands of times before, but the part after was always the hardest to admit.
Lydia clasped my hand and gave me a supportive nod.
I nodded back at her, thanking her for the support.
“I felt scared and trapped in the pipe. I had no idea if I was going to live to see my mom. I imagined the looks of devastation on Graham and Sorren’s faces.
Those three were all I could think about while I waited for the storm to pass.
To this day, I can’t be in small spaces.
My brain remembers the smell of earth and water dripping on my face.
” I finished. I swallowed the ball of nerves threatening to overwhelm me.
Lydia moved and placed her finger on my chest, making soft circles.
“I’m sorry you had to go through that.” She responded. I grabbed one of her hands and kissed it lightly.
“I’m sorry you had to go through what you did.
It wasn’t all bad. As soon as the storm passed, Graham and Sorren, with dirt and debris covering them, managed to find me.
My mom had called them asking where I was, and as soon as it was safe enough, they left to come find me.
” I chuckled at the memory of Graham and Sorren.
They were soiled with mud, sticks and leaves hanging from their hair.
“I’m glad they found you.” She mumbled, yawning loudly. I grinned at her when she rolled to my side and placed her head on my shoulder. One of her arms wrapped around my stomach.
“Go back to sleep. I’ll be here when you wake up,” I whispered and kissed her forehead lightly. We stayed that way, cuddling beside each other all morning until Gabriel came and woke us up.
