TWENTY-THREE

Wolfe

After the fucking day and night we had, Caleb and I dropped Nova off back at the house, under protection of two of the brothers. She hated that I asked for her to be watched, saying she could handle herself, but gave in when I told her it was for me.

I had to head out to check on the progress the brothers were making with clearing out our main warehouse of goods. I didn’t want Nova to come and be part of this.

She may be ready to be involved since she’s with a guy like me, but I don’t want her to get mixed up in the shady side of my activities if I can help it. Well, at least not the illegal selling of fallen-off goods from ships… and the drugs and weapons.

If I’m being honest, it’s the drugs and weapons. Another reason I want to go straight after this fucking shit.

Yeah, no way can Nova girl be around any of that.

“Everything will be out soon,” Ted says.

I cross my arms and watch as the brothers get everything onto giant trucks, ready to take them to a warehouse we own in a different county.

“It’s looking good.”

“You know, this was a good plan,” he says.

“I know it’s a lot of work, but we had to do it.”

Ted clears his throat and mimics my pose.

“Everyone agrees.”

I can feel his hesitation.

“What is it?” I ask.

Ted uncrosses his arms and positions himself in front of me.

“What’s the plan with Sam and the crew when they show up?”

“Oh, right, that.”

“Yeah, man. Are we about to murder this club? Something just isn’t sitting right with a few of us about that.”

“That’s why I’m calling the cops.”

Ted’s eyes practically bug out of his head.

“What?” he shouts.

It garners a few looks around us, including Caleb from across the warehouse.

“I’m not saying this is us going legitimate, but I’m tired. I’m exhausted from it all. Aren’t you?”

Ted gathers his composure and then sighs. Backing up to be in line with me once again, he crosses his arms and stares out at everyone working.

“Yeah. Maybe a bit.”

“Maybe if we weren’t spread so goddamn thin then I wouldn’t have had to go to prison. Maybe Sam wouldn’t think that he and the Vipers could do this to us. A lot of maybes about the past, when I want to plan for the future. This is step one in doing that.”

“Maybe you’re right about all that.”

He sighs again.

“I won’t tell anyone tonight though. That’s a bigger discussion for another time. For now, if they ask, I’ll let everyone know we’re calling the cops instead of murder.”

“It still could be considered attempted murder, if anyone is stressed about going straight with this.”

Ted chuckles and pats me on the back.

“That’s a good angle to take.”

“Thank you.”

Ted takes a few steps forward and pauses. As he turns around, I recognize my tired friend must feel the same way I do. So much is unspoken as we battle what we’ve known and work for a different life. One for the better.

“Anytime. You know I’m on your side.”

“I do.”

And I do. Ted is a friend, a good one at that. I had my suspicions about who I could trust, but I’ve come to realize that this brotherhood? It’s as forever as Nova and me. Ted’s been around for a long time, so something like money isn’t going to get him to turn on his brothers.

Sometimes it can be as simple as someone bad wanting fucking revenge. Doesn’t make it any easier.

“I’m going to go see how much longer we have.”

“Take your time. I’ll be here all night too.”

“I’ll be back.”

Ted takes off in Caleb’s direction, and I watch as the process continues seamlessly. It’s as if we’ve done this before, when we’ve never had to work this diligently and last minute.

I know when tomorrow comes, it’ll be a new dawning light.

Caleb and Ted talk to each other across the way, and a few minutes later, Caleb is heading in my direction. He’s sweating as he arrives.

“You good?” I ask.

“Yeah. Just wanted to check if you needed anything else outside of this.”

“Actually, yeah. There’s one thing I’ve been thinking about.”

“What’s that?” he asks as he uses the back of his hand to wipe away beads of sweat.

“Who’s watching Toby?”

“What do you mean?”

“We need a tracker on Toby. Someone to tell us that everything is going according to plan.”

“Fuck. We should have thought about that.”

“Yep.”

“I’ll send one of the guys.”

“Sounds good. Pick someone you know we can trust.”

Caleb frowns.

“Look, we hope it’s just Toby, but you never fucking know these days.”

Caleb nods as his eyes widen slightly.

“It’s nothing personal.”

“I know,” he interjects.

“It’s just business.”

“Fuck. This mess will be over with soon. I’ll send Adam.”

I hum at the suggestion.

“He should be good.”

“I’ll get to it then.”

“Thanks, man.”

Caleb starts to walk away and turns back.

“You sticking around?”

“What kind of leader would I be if I didn’t?” I retort.

“The smart kind,” he taunts.

“Yeah, yeah. Get out of here.”

Caleb takes off in a different direction, going to find Adam.

A long night ahead of us, but it will pay off tomorrow.

When I slip back into the bedroom, the sun is rising, and I know Nova will be waking up soon. It was a long night, but everything was finally taken care of. A shower and a nap will bring me back to life after what I’ve been through.

Walking past the bed, my suspicions are confirmed as I see my angel sleeping peacefully. I can’t believe she’s back home where she belongs. Where I know she’s safe and mine.

I head right to the bathroom, shut the door quietly, and start stripping out of my clothes. They’re grimy, sticking to my body like a second layer of skin I need to peel off.

Staring at myself in the mirror, I find the person I’m becoming overwhelming, yet I like it. Maybe it started with that first haircut. Maybe it was the first “I love you” I shared with Nova, or just maybe, it’s been all of these moments collected together.

Turning on the shower, I put the water temperature a little hotter than I normally would. I need to find some way to relax from all this tension. Another long night is ahead.

As I wait for the water to heat up, the sound of the bathroom door opening distracts my focus. I spin around and see Nova, looking sleepy in one of my shirts. It comes down to her upper thigh.

“Wolfe?”

“Sorry to wake you.”

“No, not at all. I wanted to wake up when you got back,” she says, walking closer.

Nova yawns, and then her eyes adjust to what’s happening.

“You’re naked,” she says with a giggle.

Her eyes rake up and down my body.

“I basically am.” I chuckle at her taking me all in.

Her eyes finally meet mine, and she gives me a playful shrug.

“How was the rest of your night?”

“We got it done. But I need a shower,” I say, gesturing to the water.

“Want some company?” she asks.

“I would love that.”

I pull off my boxers at the same time that Nova takes off the shirt. She’s completely naked underneath.

“Who’s the surprise now?” I taunt.

“I told you I was waiting for you.” She comes and stands next to me, testing the water with her hand.

“It’s ready,” she says as she steps into it.

I follow behind naturally.

The shower is large and modern, with two showerheads and black finishes. The first time Nova saw it, she told me it was a dream. At the time, I couldn’t help but laugh, but now that we’re showering so casually together, I agree it is like a dream.

Nova gets under the shower spray, washing her hair with ease. She pumps the shampoo bottle and slides out of the way for me to get under next.

I follow suit, washing the grime off my body and then washing my hair. Nova eyes me as my arms flex from the motion.

“Getting an idea in that beautiful mind of yours?”

“Yeah, maybe I am. Would you be interested in my idea?”

We switch places as she washes the shampoo out of her hair, and I scrub it into mine. She puts conditioner on hers next but rinses it out quickly.

I chuckle, knowing why.

“Someone’s eager already.”

Stepping out of the way, she switches places with me again. This time, as she waits, she turns on the additional showerhead so both are running.

“Why didn’t I think of that?”

“You weren’t the one getting ideas, remember?”

“That’s right, baby.”

Nova’s eyes are on mine as she slowly sinks to her knees. The water flows off her body, making her appear ethereal.

The way her tits look as she plops down has my cock becoming a full erection.

“What are you doing down there?”

“Making you feel good.”

She takes my cock between her delicate hands and starts to stroke it. Deep and fast, it’s the most sensual way anyone has ever played with my cock before, never mind Nova.

I lean forward onto the shower glass behind her, with my hands extended outward. It makes my body tower over hers. She brings her mouth to my cock and sucks hard. The warmth combined with the push and pull she’s doing makes all the tension I have flood to the head of my cock.

“That’s it, baby, suck on my cock. Make me come all over that pretty face.”

She hums and starts to go even faster.

“You’d like that, wouldn’t you? My cum all over that face, marking you as mine even more.”

Nova removes her hands and grabs onto my ass. She starts to push it even further in as she continues sucking hard.

“Fuck, I’m going to come. Keep going.”

She tightens her mouth around it right as I feel all the tension I’ve been keeping release.

As I pull out of her mouth, Nova leans back, resting on her hands. I come on her mouth and let it drip down her neck and onto her tits.

She looks breathtaking, dripping in my cum.

“Fuck, you’re something else.”

She licks her lips before biting on the lower one.

“Yum,” she moans out.

My cock twitches again.

“Fuck, how am I ever supposed to stop wanting you all the time?” She giggles as she extends her hand for me to help her up.

“You’re not,” she says as she stands up.

I place a kiss on her lips, and then Nova washes my cum off her mouth and body.

“Come here,” I murmur in the shell of her ear. I pull her back tightly against my stomach, letting her naked body mold into mine again.
