Page 189 of In Death, Love Survives
They storm off, spitting expletives.
“They’ll cool down,” Ted says.
“We’ll figure it out. One step at a time. It’s only been a week since this was an option we’ve talked about out loud.”
Ted nods as chatter picks up.
“Let’s stay in touch about it,” he says.
“Yeah, man.”
Wolfe looks over at me and grins.
“Want to go for a ride?”
I can’t help but blush.
“I like where your head is at, but I was thinking more so on the bike.”
“Oh, right.”
I slap one of his shoulders lightly before hopping off his lap.
“Yeah, let’s ride off into the sunset.”
“I like the sound of that.”
EPILOGUE
Nova, Three months later
My dress is short, much shorter than I ever imagined my wedding dress would be. It’s a fitted bodice top, letting my breasts spill over.
I know Wolfe is going to love it.
I love the lace embellishments on it. It makes this dress feel like the new version of me that I have finally found.
It took a while to find my footing after everything we went through with Sam and the Vipers, all while trying to figure out who I am in Wolfe’s world.
Somewhere along the way, I discovered that it is possible to be an outlaw’s future wife while keeping parts of who Dr. Nova Fletcher was.
I fix my long veil on top of my head and take a final look in the mirror.
Today is the day I officially become Mrs. Walker, Wolfe’s wife.
We decided to do something small, just between us and a few of our closest friends, to symbolize the way we want to live ourlives together—simply and surrounded by the people we truly care about while forging our new family.
Taking a deep, steadying breath, I head out of the bathroom and make my way to my forever.
We set up the backyard for the wedding. Twinkling lights are hanging everywhere, and flowers are overflowing on tables and lining the walkway to where Wolfe is waiting.
It’s perfectly us.
Caleb got ordained to preside over the ceremony. Neither of us is particularly religious, so it was a way to involve Wolfe’s best friend. We decided against a wedding party, given the size of the wedding.
Music starts to play, and it’s one of our favorite songs, the same one my parents danced to at their wedding.
It’s one of the ones we listen to as we take in the gorgeous sunsets from the patio, reminding me of them so openly. I no longer hide from my past, and neither does Wolfe. We also try to honor his loved ones whenever we can.
