Page 30 of In Death, Love Survives
“I’m sure everyone will be wantin’ to meet you. I’ll get out of your hair,” Ted says.
He tilts his beer bottle in our direction and then walks out.
“He seems nice,” Nova whispers.
“Nice. The only one who won’t be trying to fuck you.”
Nova gasps and spins around in my hold. She playfully swats my shoulder.
“ Wolfe .”
I hoot at the tone.
“Angel, it’s true. That’s all.”
“Well, you’re the only one I want.”
She wraps her arms around my neck and leans up to place a kiss on my mouth. As she does, I squeeze her ass and hoist her up, having her wrap her legs around my waist.
She smiles widely.
“Kiss me like you mean it,” I murmur.
“I always do.”
She leans down and consumes my mouth. In a way, she’s claiming me as hers right in front of everyone at the party. I can tell eyes are on us, as some of the loud chatter has settled down.
Nova pulls away, and I grin at the idea of being hers.
“I think you just covered introductions of who you are to me,” I murmur.
“Fantastic, now I won’t have to watch any of the women eyeing you up, wondering if I’m your long-lost sister.”
I bellow at the thought.
“No mistaking you as my sister, baby.”
Nova hops off me and threads her hand through mine. All I can do is watch as this woman becomes braver by the second.
“Who else should I meet tonight?”
I glance around the room and see a few eyes still lingering on us.
“Let’s head outside. I’m sure there’s a fire. We’ll post up there, and anyone can come by and meet you.”
“Shouldn’t I be circulating around the room?”
“Baby, I plan to make you come out there with the stars above our heads and fire blazing in front of our eyes. Fuck meeting people.”
Nova’s eyes widen as she smirks.
“You can’t.”
“Baby, it’s my house, I can do whatever I want.”
A light flush stains her cheeks.
“Only if you want,” I tease.
“We’ll see.”
“I promise you’ll meet the people worth meeting tonight.”
I guide Nova out back, briefly introducing her to brothers as we pass by. Everyone is intrigued by us being together. It’s no secret that there are already whispers spreading around about how we met.
The brothers are my family. I know no one will be giving her a hard time about it. It’s the women who hang around that I hope Nova has a thick enough skin for. Some will want to befriend her because of our relationship, while others will want to tear her apart.
“There are a lot of people here,” Nova says.
“Yeah. Don’t worry. We can kick them all out.”
She grins as she gestures ahead toward the fire. All the spots are taken, but what she doesn’t get is that as soon as we walk up there, someone will get up for me. It’s just how it goes.
“It’ll be fine. Someone will be heading off somewhere.”
As we approach, I spot Caleb coming up around the side of the fire. He’s with someone I don’t recognize.
“Who is that with Caleb?” Nova asks.
“No clue.”
“He looks like a man on a mission, heading toward you.”
“Hopefully, it’s this guy I need to talk to.”
Someone gets up from the chair, like I expected, and I take a seat.
“Where should I sit?” she asks.
“Baby, this tight little ass better be on my lap at all times.”
Nova grins as she takes a seat on my lap. I wrap my hand around the top of her thigh.
“You like when I boss you around a bit,” I whisper into the shell of her ear.
“Yeah, I do.”
“I love you,” I whisper.
“I’ll never tire of hearing that.”
“I’ll tell you all the time.”
“I love you too.”
She nuzzles into my chest right as Caleb steps in front of us, blocking the view of the fire.
“What’s up, man?” I ask.
“Hey, Nova,” Caleb says.
“Hey, Caleb.”
Caleb faces back over to me.
“Wolfe. This is Eddie.”
Eddie is a gangly, tall man who looks to be about twenty-five. Ruffled-up blond hair swings across his face.
“Eddie. The man, the myth, the legend,” I taunt.
Eddie looks visibly nervous.
“Wolfe. I’m glad to finally meet you.”
“That’s nice.”
I assess Eddie, knowing that maybe he does have an idea as to why Caleb brought him over here.
“Meet me inside. In ten.”
“Look, man. Wolfe…” Eddie starts.
“Ten minutes. You got a problem with that?”
Eddie gulps as his eyes widen.
“No. No. Of course not. I just don’t know how helpful I’ll be.”
“I’ll be the judge of that.”
He nods and walks away.
“You’ll be there too,” I say to Caleb.
“Yeah. See you in there.”
“Later, man.”
“Good to see you, Nova,” Caleb says.
“You too!” she exclaims as they walk away.
Nova buries her face into my chest.
“Did you want a drink?” I ask.
“No, I’m good.”
“Since that’s settled. I think I owe my girl an orgasm. Isn’t that right?” I whisper.
“Wolfe…”
Slowly, my hand travels up her thigh, and I tease the edge of her cutoff shorts with my fingers.
She shudders from my touch, and goose bumps prickle along her legs.
“I think you like to be daring.”
Nova hums as she sinks back into my chest.
My fingers trail her shorts until I reach her pussy. I start to stroke the outside of her shorts and can feel the heat exuding.
“What if someone’s watching?”
“Then they’ll see just how beautifully you come.”
“I thought you didn’t want people seeing me come?”
I chuckle. She’s got me there.
“If you don’t want to.”
“I do,” she whispers.
Nova sighs as she wiggles in my lap, adjusting herself slightly so one leg is bent at the knee, mostly covering where my hand is.
I start to rub her faster, feeling her body vibrating from each touch.
“Careful, baby,” I whisper.
“Wolfe,” she moans out.
One of her arms wraps around the back of my neck as she begs for more friction.
“Please.”
I rub her rougher, knowing that she needs a deeper touch.
“Come for me.”
“I’m so close,” she murmurs as she starts doing smaller thrusts.
“Pretty girl,” I whisper.
I can make her come so easily just from paying attention to what works.
“I’m… I’m…”
I strum harder against her pussy, knowing any second, she’ll be coming to life on my lap.
“I’m coming,” she says.
Nova bites down on her lower lip to stifle the moan.
“You come so prettily for me, angel.”
Nova stills as her body goes limp against my chest, before letting out a few huffs.
“I can’t believe we just did that.”
I look around the fire, and no one is directly watching us. I’m sure if anyone did notice, they took the fucking hint.
“Baby. It’s a whole new world. You can do whatever you want with me.”
“You’re turning everything upside down.”
“Is that a bad thing?”
“No. It’s the best thing.”
“Let’s go inside. I gotta meet with Eddie.”
Nova shakes her head and starts to get up. She turns back around, and as I get up, I can’t believe she just came from my hand.
“You look so proud,” she teases.
“You know I am.”
“Come on, you animal. You have a meeting to get to.”
I sigh.
“Back to reality, it is.”
“You’ll figure it out.”
We start to walk up to the house, hand in hand.
“I know, I just wanted to ease into being back. Having you here. It’s feet to the fire, as they say.”
“We’ll get this solved and then have a chance at happily ever after.” She beams as she elbows me playfully.
“Happily ever after. I can’t fucking wait for that.”
