Page 132 of Claiming the Pack's Omega
“I do have to say though, I’m a little worried I’m going to make things harder for you," she says, clasping her hands in her lap and staring down at them. “What if your parents ask me what I do or where I’m from? Your family doesn’t strike me as the kinda people who’d be okay with a Southside omega strolling into their house.”
“They’ll suck it up and fucking deal with it,” I growl, my jaw ticking.
I reach out and gently tilt her chin so I can look into her eyes again.
“I’veneverhad one thing that’s just mine before,” I say, stroking my hand along her jaw. “I’m sure as hell going to protect her.”
Her chin trembles as she leans into my touch.
“Fuck, you’re going to make me cry," she whispers.
“There’s nothing wrong with crying.”
Her lips open and close and her brows draw down as if she wants to say something, but doesn’t know how.
She reaches up and cradles my hand against her cheek as she brushes her lips against my thumb. The intimacy of the movement has my cock stirring in my pants. Who knew a thumb could feel so sensitive?
The silence between us is interrupted by the buzzing of my phone.
I let out a deep sigh as I check my watch.
“Looks like my break is over. I have to head back into the office,” I say, pulling my hand away from her face.
It takes all my willpower, because all I want to do is touch her.
“I’ll drop you off at home, is that alright?”
She nods silently, her hands returning to her lap as she stares out the window.
Fuck, did I do something wrong?
“You—you’ll be back for dinner, right?” She asks quietly, as I pull up to the driveway of the pack house.
“Do you want me back for dinner?” I ask, my brows drawn down in concern.
She swallows hard as she glances at me out of the corner of her eye.
“Yeah—yeah, I do," she says.
I put the car in park and turn to face her.
“Then I’ll be back for dinner,” I say, reaching out and brushing a strand of hair that’s fallen in front of her face behind her ear.
“Okay, thank you," she says, her lips pulling into a tight smile that doesn’t quite reach her eyes. She almost looks nervous.
“Hey, is everything okay? I know… I know my family can be a lot, if you’re not interested in dinner on Saturday, we?—”
“No, dinner is fine," she says, shrugging. Her eyes dart to the notifications that keep popping up on my phone. I’m pretty sure my secretary has texted me a dozen times. “I should let you get back to work. I’ll see you at dinner.”
She pops open the car door and hops out, not sparing me a second glance as she lets herself into the house.
CHAPTER 29
Reyna
“Hey, Milo?” I ask, knocking on his door.
He opens it a split second later, wearing an adorable pair of glasses.
