Chapter 29

JORDY

“Hell of a game, Jordy!” Blythe declared. I fist bumped him before taking off my shoulder pads.

“Wanna go up to the pool tonight? It’s an infinity pool,” he said, wiggling his eyebrows at me.

Maybe I needed to clear my head. Every time I blinked, thought, looked at something, all I saw was her.

“Yeah, man. I’ll meet you there.” Secretly, I hoped that Dani would be there.

In my room, I slipped into a pair of swim trunks and grabbed a towel before heading to the pool. When I arrived, a handful of players were there with some of the cleat chasers who would be forgotten about the next day.

“Ah! My man. You made it.”

I smiled, shaking Blythe’s hand. He was surrounded by three women, because of course he would be. He was Blythe Wheeler.

“Aren’t you supposed to be keeping a low profile?” I asked curiously.

He pursed his lips. “Nah. Millie just told me that to me as a suggestion .”

I laughed. There was no way it was a suggestion, and I’d guarantee she would absolutely rip him to shreds when she got a hold of him. The crowd was starting to fizzle out when a girl touched my arm. Turning, I found a pretty redhead with a bright smile.

“Hi, Jordy, great game,” she said sweetly.

I gave her a polite smile. “Thank you.”

“Want me to join you on your swim?” she asked me, gesturing to the pool behind her.

“Eh, I’m not big into swimming these days. I’m just here to relax in the chairs.” I gave her a side smile.

She sighed. “Well, if you change your mind, I’ll just be over here.” She gestured to where Blythe was in the pool.

I sat down and leaned back in the lounge, looking up at the night sky. Taking deep breaths, I rested for a moment before I heard a whistle. My eyes flew open, landing on Blythe. His head was turned all the way around, looking at someone. My eyes tracked his gaze all the way to—

Holy Shit.

Dani was standing there in a black string bikini. My mouth dropped open, because damn, this woman was an absolute smoke show. Her petite figure was adorned by the curves around her chest and hips. And while I’d seen her naked and been inside of her, seeing her with just a few pieces of cloth on was damning.

My dick started to rise, and I immediately shoved my towel over it. The closer she got, the more I could see the features on her face. She wore not a lick of makeup, showcasing the light dusting of freckles over her nose.

Gorgeous.

I took a breath because I had forgotten how to breathe for a second. She placed her towel a few loungers down from me before she ran and dove into the pool. She floated on her back for a few minutes, and I felt like someone was staring at me.

Blythe.

He raised his brows, gesturing that he would go over there, and I shook my head no. He continuously nodded and started to move, and like hell if he would get close to Dani. She was mine. I threw the towel down and ran, jumping full force into the pool. When I emerged, a furious Dani stared at me.

“Sorry about the splash,” I said, moving closer to her. “You look good.”

She rolled her eyes. “Mhm. I know.”

We tread the water near each other before she swam to the rim of the infinity pool. Of course, I swam after her, because I wasn’t that much of an idiot.

“You’re following me, Jordy,” Dani groaned.

“Yep, and I'll keep following you. Wherever you go.”

Squeezing out the water in her hair, she said, “Why do I feel like there’s a deeper meaning to that statement?”

I moved closer, until I was merely inches away from her. I could practically taste her lips. “Because there is. Dani, I’m so sorry. I’m sorry you found those pictures, and I'm sorry that I made you doubt how I feel about you.” Her eyes searched mine for clarity, truth, the words to say back, I don’t know. “I love you, Dani. I meant it that night and I mean it now. I’d follow you anywhere and anytime. You are everything to me—”

Her lips pressed into mine, and I wrapped my hands around her hips, lifting them around me. I walked her over to the side, pressing her body against the glass wall. We pulled back for air.

“I missed you,” I murmured.

“I missed you, too.”

I pressed another kiss to her lips. “Let’s go. I need to fuck you.”

“Wow. How romantic,” she giggled.

“You’re right. How ungentlemanlike of me.” I straightened my metaphorical tie. “Dani, would you be so kind as to let my dick enter your pussy this evening?”

She laughed deeply and launched herself in my arms again. “Shut up, you idiot.”

I held her as I walked us to the pool stairs, kissing her the whole way. She started walking up the steps out of the pool, but I realized I had to stay. “Actually, can you grab my towel?” I gestured to my dick. She laughed, throwing it at me from our loungers.

The redhead passed by me in the pool and giggled. “So much for not wanting to get into the pool, huh?”

Dani flipped her the bird. “Fuck off, Pippi.”

I couldn’t help but laugh. This woman was my soulmate, and I wondered if she knew it too.

It was an earthquake. My body couldn’t stop moving. Oh my God. We would die this high in the hotel.

“Jordy! Wake up!”

I sat up, frantic. “I’m up!”

“My God! I’ve been shaking you for at least five minutes.”

Oh.

“We’re gonna be late for the flight if you don’t get up.”

I groaned, flopping against the pillow. “I don’t wanna get up.”

“We have to be downstairs in thirty minutes. They’ll leave without us if we’re not there on time.”

Sitting up, I raised a brow. “Thirty minutes, you say?”

Dani groaned. “No, no, we have to go. We can’t have sex again.”

“Oh yes we can.” I grabbed her, flipping her down on the mattress. “I'll be quick.”

Giggling, she shimmied her pants down, exposing her delicate lace thong that I pulled to the side. I pressed my tongue against her clit and felt her body immediately relax. I loved the way her body responded to me I pressed my fingers inside of her, curling them into the spot she loved so much.

“Fuck,” she mumbled.

I worked her up to the brink of orgasm before I yanked my hand and tongue away.

She slapped my head. “Jordy! Why!” she groaned out of frustration.

I pulled my cock out of my sweatpants, guiding it to her entrance. “I want to come with you, baby.”

With one thrust, my cock was completely taken by her, her back arching off the bed. I leaned down, gripping her neck as I thrust in and out of her. “Look at me.”

She moaned, her tongue swiping her bottom lip, taunting me. Arching down, I took her mouth as I fucked her.

Our tongues danced against each other and I could feel her legs spreading further, anticipating her climax. “Just like that, baby,” I whispered against her lips.

The heat in my spine started to spread the faster I thrust. Our bodies slapped together and the slickness of her pussy made the most deliciously erotic sounds.

With one final thrust, I came so fucking hard I thought I might black out. Her pussy clenched me as I spilled inside of her.

I glanced at the clock. “Still have fifteen minutes to spare.”

We laughed, and I knew that we’d be fine. Nothing could ever rip us apart.

***

The day after we arrived back in New Orleans, I received an email from none other than our owner, setting up a meeting time. Talk about shitting a brick. I immediately started to think of all the ways I could try to keep my job as a receiver on the team.

I unfortunately set up the meeting and now I am waiting to talk with him.

“He’ll see you now."

Shit. What could this be about. Elena? Dani? I wouldn’t be giving her up. Over my dead body would I give her up.

As I walked into Lathan Allaire’s office, I took in the grandeur of the space. Panoramic views of the city, with built in black metal cabinets and a glass desk at the center. He wasn’t sitting at the desk, so I frantically looked around the room to catch a glimpse of him.

My heart was pounding, and my pulse was deafening in my ears. An adjacent door opened, and Lathan strode in. We’d met before, but we’d never had a full on conversation about anything.

“Mr. Hughes, thank you so much for agreeing to meet with me.”

I did not agree to meet with him. I was forced to. But I cleared my throat. “Absolutely.”

Lathan reached his desk, unbuttoning his sports coat and hanging it up on the back of the chair. He gestured across from him to a brown leather chair, and I followed his lead.

“I know you probably don’t know why you are meeting with me,” he started. I tried to keep my face as composed as possible. What in the absolute hell was I doing here? I thought I was coming to defend Dani’s honor and keep our jobs. He interlaced his fingers on the tabletop and leaned over, clearing his voice. “We are looking for a player that would be interested in a few sponsorship deals with some local businesses, and we wanted to see if you’d be our guy.”

My shoulders relaxed and I leaned back in the chair, realizing I was not in trouble, and nothing was actually wrong. “Oh, what does it entail?”

He sighed. “That’s the big thing that most of the athletes don’t necessarily want to do.”

“Hit me.” I deadpanned him.

Lathan chuckled, pulling his hands off the table and placing them around the back of his neck. “The partnership we have is with the homeless shelter. With the cold weather approaching—which we know isn’t necessarily all the time here—they need extra hands to help.”

I looked at him like he’s an idiot. Any one of the football players would go help at the homeless shelter. We played professional sports, but we weren’t assholes. Well, not all of us.

“Sure, I’d love to help.”

“And one more thing,” he added as he stood. I followed suit, trailing behind him to the door. “Elena will be let go during the bi-week. I know you had a relationship with her, but it has come to our attention that she has been sending pictures of our playbook to other teams.”

What a piece of shit.

“I’ve already met with her, just to feel her out and see what type of person she might be. She brought up a work relationship that the two of you had, and that you are now with Dani Corella? Is that correct?”

Shit. My spine straightened, and my palms became sweaty as I rubbed them together. “Mhm. We are—an item. She’s my—she’s my girlfriend.” I answered, quickly and rather nervously, but I was able to conjure up the words.

Lathan smiled. “Very well. I hope that the two of you are happy together, and I don’t want you to be worried about your job. As long as you do your job and she does hers, then I have no worries here.”

“Thank you, Mr. Allaire.” I shook his hand fiercely.

He arched his brow. “Don’t call me that. Lathan is fine.”

I gave him a tight smile and a sigh of relief, knowing that this could have been ten times worse.
