Chapter 10

JORDY

When I walked back into the room after showering, I didn’t expect for Dani to be completely passed out, but my eyes traveled to the sheet that was dipped down and barely covering her ass. I stood in the middle of the room, contemplating whether or not I should climb in the bed with her or if I should leave her alone.

I knew leaving her alone was the right answer, but my dick was trying to convince me otherwise.

Finally I decided to get into the cot and tried my best to get some sleep. But Dani’s face kept popping into my head, especially her expression when she came. Her cheeks were flushed and her brows scrunched together. Her lips parted, letting out a moan. Good God, if I kept thinking about her, I’d have to go back in the shower.

Clanging startled me awake as I jolted up, looking around the room for the source of the sound. It was Dani, who just dropped our tray of what I would guess was breakfast.

“Shit!” she mumbled, trying to salvage what was left of the meal. I stood and jogged to get beside her, bending to pick up the half-buttered toast off the wooden floor. “I’m so sorry. I just tripped and it—”

Her breathing was rapid. Too rapid. Was she about to hyperventilate?

“Are you okay?” I asked her, waiting for her to stop picking up things off the floor and look at me. But she didn’t, and she didn’t answer me either.

“Dani,” I said sharply, grabbing her hand. “Stop. It’s okay. It’s just food; we can go get breakfast at the little restaurant on site. Don’t worry about it.”

Tears were in her eyes as she plopped to the floor, and I kicked the tray out of the way to sit next to her. My arm reached around her, pulling her head into my chest. “Why are you so upset?” I asked gently.

She let out a soft sob. “I don’t know why I’m crying. This is ridiculous.”

“I don’t know why you’re crying either,” I chuckled, and so did she. “But I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what’s bothering you.”

“If I tell you, will you promise not to laugh?” she asked, glancing up at me with her beautiful brown eyes that had a hint of shimmering gold.

“Seriously? I can’t tie my shoes, Dani. I’m not gonna laugh.”

She sighed. “Okay. I—I’m afraid of being on the boat. I was thinking about it this morning and got distracted, so that’s why our breakfast is on the floor.”

I smirked. So that’s why she dropped it. She was nervous about today.

“It’s gonna be okay. I know you’re scared, but I’ll be there with you, and there’s life jackets on the boat. I promise to take care of you. Okay?”

I patted her arm, and she squeezed her arms around me. “Okay,” she whispered.

“Let’s get up and get some breakfast, shall we?”

We weren’t the only ones that thought about getting breakfast this morning—everyone and their mother were here. Including Elena…

After yesterday’s events, everyone who competed were obviously all starved this morning. Which led me to my next thought—should I discuss what happened last night with Dani, or pretend it didn’t happen?

“So, about last night…”

Well, that answered my question. “Yes, what about it?” I replied, taking a bite of crisp bacon.

Dani chewed on her bottom lip nervously. “That was…interesting.”

My brows raised and I swallowed the remnants of my food before answering. “Just interesting? That’s all? No ‘thanks for talking me through my orgasm?’”

“Shh,” she pleaded. “Don’t talk so loud.”

I rolled my eyes. “Oh, please. No one here can hear a word I’m saying, Dani. Besides… I know you liked it because you moaned my name.”

Her mouth dropped open. “No, I didn’t. At least… I’m pretty sure I didn’t.”

I grinned. “No. You didn’t, but I could tell you wanted to.”

“That was a one-time thing. Got it?”

I stared at her as I bit into the toast, chewing aggressively as we bore holes into each other’s soul. “Whatever you say… mama.”

With that, she threw the crust of her bread at me, and I giggled. I loved it when she got all riled up.

“I really don’t want to get on the boat,” Dani remarked.

I was already standing behind her, ready to lift her onto the boat from the pier. “It’ll be okay, I’m right here."

Nervously, she placed one foot onto the side of the boat before Shy grabbed her other hand and pulled her in. She hugged him and he patted her back, smiling as I hopped in beside her. “You know, I’m taken, Dani,” he teased.

She pulled back from the embrace and slapped his chest. “You know that hug was not anything but a hug.”

We both laughed.

Once everyone gathered on the pontoon boat, we were handed drinks of our choice. They planned on bringing us out to a sand bar to float and hang out. Dani sat straight as a board next to me, wincing at every wave we crashed into.

“What swimsuit do you have on today?” I asked her, trying to distract her thoughts.

Her head swiveled to look at me. “It's the red one.”

“Oh, red. My favorite. Is it cheeky or—”

“What do you even know about styles of swimsuits?”

I chortled. “I mean, I know when a swimsuit covers your body a lot versus a little.”

She rolled her eyes, took a sip of her drink, and smirked. “And what swimsuit do you have?”

I glanced down at my lap, to the swim trunks I have on that she could plainly see. “The ones that you can see on my body right now.”

She glanced down. “Aw. I was hoping for something a little more… revealing?”

My brows raised. “Really?”

“Yeah, I was hoping for maybe a Speedo or something?”

I laughed. A fucking Speedo. Actually…I knew someone who was always prepared and who would have no problem switching with me. I eyed Shyloh, and he glanced at me with a curious expression. He knew that I had something to chat with him about.

“I’ll be right back,” I told Dani.

When I stood, she grabbed my arm. “Don’t be long please. I’m still scared.”

“I won’t be, I promise.”

I plopped down next to Shy and murmured, “I need some help.”

“If it’s for you to impress Dani… I’m all in.”
