Page 48 of Brutal Little Secrets
Chase runs his hand through his hair, and his face softens as he comes to a decision. “Honestly, maybe at first, but you’ve been good for me, EvanAnn. I like you and think together we can make it.”
I want to scoff, but I hold it in. I can’t say the same about him. Though in ways, he got me out of my shell and pushed me past my comfort zone. I needed a shakeup. At least I didn’t give him my heart or anything of me.
“I’m going to have a few people over to the house this weekend.” He smiles like we’re on the same page again. “I’d love for you to come over. We can talk and hang out. You could bring Mia.”
“How many is a few people?” I arch my eyebrow suspiciously, thinking he’s going to try to seduce me.
“The guys on the team. A few of their girlfriends. Nothing major.” Chase smiles. “My dad would kill me if I threw a party like Fletcher does.”
“We’re not okay, Chase,” I remind him. I don’t want him to think this weekend will be his opportunity to get me into bed.
“I know.” He looks down, and when he looks up, he smiles. “We have to start somewhere if we want to move forward. What my dad said is true. You’ve been good for me. Just because I went into this for the wrong reasons, I still asked you out because I like you and find you attractive. I can see us having a real future together.”
My skin crawls at the idea of giving him any kind of hope, but this is the part I’m playing right now. I’m the wronged girlfriend who’s willing to take back her cheating boyfriend. I still can’t figure out my motive for the scene, but I guess it doesn’t matter. My real motive is revenge.
Maybe it started as Damon’s revenge, but Chase shouldn’t have thought I was an easy target. A plan is beginning to form. “Yeah, I’ll see if Mia wants to come with me.”
Chapter 15
Cam
Damon sits at his desk working on his homework while Hawk reads something on his phone. I left my phone at home and snuck out. It feels weird being without, but I’m not missing time with our girl just because I’m on lockdown.
“Got the burner phone to her.” Hawk lowers his phone.
“I’ve got someone setting up a dummy number to use for texting.” I rub my knees. “We could go either way.”
Hawk nods and glances at his screen. “We need to make sure it’s not too obvious.”
I chuckle. “Even obvious will work on him.”
When Evan’s bedroom door opens and closes, both of the others lift their gazes to the bathroom door. She comes through and smiles when she sees us.
“That was fucking awkward.” She breathes out and looks at Damon. “Are you okay?”
He shakes his head like she’s trying to read too much into the situation. But he told us what happened. His dad decided to make a playdate for him with Chase. Fucking dads, always thinking they know how to fix shit.
“Did they leave?” he asks.
She nods and leans against the doorframe. “Chase is planning a party for when his parents are away this weekend. Lowkey, some football players and their girls. Wants me to bring Mia and join them.”
Damon rubs his fingers over his lips, considering. But this one is totally in my domain.
“Let’s make it the party of the year.” I lean my hands back on the bed and wink at Evan.
“He did say he couldn’t get away with a party like Fletcher’s.” She smiles at me. Those blue eyes sparkle.
I grin. “Do you know how fast a party can spiral out of control? Who am I asking? Of course, you don’t.”
I straighten and make my way over to her. Her heated eyes take me in. Fuck, am I ready to play with her. My cock twitches. One time in that tight pussy and I’m already addicted.
“You done with your homework?” I ask and stop in front of her.
She lifts her gaze to mine and nods.
“We should discuss strategy.” Damon hasn’t left his desk.
I put my knuckle under Evan’s chin and search her eyes. “Do you want to talk strategy, goody?”
