Viktor was still looking a little gun shy and trigger happy as Nova eased by.
"Father, you've lost. Give me one good reason I don't blow you to kingdom come."
Katia looked back at Viktor. She had one more ace up her sleeve. "Kill him or me and you'll never find your brother."
"What?" Val whispered.
"Viktor and I had a child, all those years ago. And if you kill either of us, you will never find out who he is."
I yanked her in closer the gun directly on her temple. She smelled of spices and anger, and slowly we backed out.
"Don't worry, my love," Katia told Viktor. "I'll see you soon."
The idea of telling her not to count on it danced on the tip of my tongue, but I held back.
