"Wow...you're an asshole." I smirked. "We'll be out of your hair within the next thirty minutes."
He gave a curt nod and exited the room, saying nothing further. I finished getting dress and took my wet hair and pulled it into a braid. I gave a look over my shoulder at the bed I'd been ravaged in. He would never catch me off guard again. In fact, he would never touch me that way again.
I wasn't angry.
I just didn't appreciate being tossed to the side like trash.
"What did you expect, Nova? To wind up like Julia Roberts?" I sucked my teeth at the thought while descending the stairs. Valentin appeared out of nowhere.
"Habit of talking to yourself?" he asked, smiling a sly smile.
"Shut up." I rake him over. "You look like shit."
He rubbed the back of his neck. "Feel that way too, but the doctor said it’s mostly bruising."
"Get some rest...this has been an eventful weekend," I said.
"I'll just bet it has been." He quirked an eyebrow.
I titled my head "You speculating about something?"
He chuckled and walked off. "I know my cousin and when he gets fixated on something he likes...well, you already know that don't you?"
I flipped him the bird and went off to find the kids. I needed to get out of this house and away from that man. After gathering the twins, we headed outside where Liam's driver was already waiting. He quietly opened the door and waited for us to enter.
I gave the mansion one last look and saw Liam standing in what he probably thought was out of view.
Why did my heart feel like it was twinging in my chest?
This felt very final.
I would probably never see Liam again, and I needed to be fine with that.
I had fulfilled my punishment.
This was over and done.
A small part of me felt a little…broken.
It was okay though, because I would find a way to bury it way down deep.
