"Wear the pearls. My driver will be there at eight o'clock on the dot. Don't have him waiting too long. He will bring you to the club..."I recalled Liam's words.
We’d spent almost an hour in the small private boutique that I found out was owned by someone he knew. He'd practically bought out the entire store, and then we'd moved on to a few more locations. This man had been so bold that he'd came into the dressing room to watch me put on lingerie, but he never touched me.
Just watched.
I fastened the clasp that belonged to the pearls into place. Tonight, I had my hair done up in waves and hanging about my shoulders. I wanted to do something different with my hair and Yara had decided to help me wrangle my it in place.
"You look so pretty sis." She smiled as she stood back and admired her work.
"Think so?"
"You know you're beautiful...I wish I looked more like you," she replied.
"What? Yara you are beautiful...all that hair. Those hazel eyes...when it's time…" I dropped a kiss on her forehead. "Boys are going to be knocking at the door and you'll have your pick to turn down."
She kind of hunched her should as if she didn't believe me. "If you say so."
I thought back to what her math teacher had said about the older man. I still hadn't had been able to talk to her much about that and made a mental note. My siblings came first, I just needed to get Liam off my back so that I could get my life back to normal. Whatever normal was.
Tipping up Yara's face to mine, I took in her hazel eyes that she had inherited from her unknown father. They mirrored our brother's. "We need to have a talk about this man."
Quickly she yanked away from my touch as if I'd smacked her. "Huh?"
"Your teachers said you've been a little distracted...they thought maybe it was a man involved?" I began to rub my arm. The white dress I was wearing, the one I knew Liam was going to hate, didn't have sleeves.
Yara's eyes grew wide in disbelief. "There isn't a man. Just someone..."
I took note of the time; the clock was telling me I had a few moments to get out to the car. "Yara, no man needs to be talking to you. You're a child."
"It's not like that..."
I stalked out of my bathroom and grabbed the leather jacket that was lying on my bed. I was wearing heels again and knew my feet were going to be killing me. "Yara, tomorrow we're going to have a long ass talk. There shouldn't be a man, period."
"Okay," she murmured.
I made it to the door and hollered out for my brother, who'd been in their room playing on their new PlayStation 4 all day. "Des, I love you!"
"Love you, have fun," he hollered and returned to what he was doing.
I shot Yara a stern look. "Don't leave this apartment and don't let anyone in. I'll be back in a few hours. Love you."
She gave a smirk and a salute. I didn't have time to argue any further because my chariot awaited. The driver who I noted was always quiet was standing and waited. He greeted me with a small smile and opened the door for me.
I pulled up social media on my cellphone. My nerves were completely on edge. Liam hadn't explained why he was bringing me to this club. He had instructed me to simply get dressed and meet him there. I went to Astrid's page and saw that she was posting pictures of Lexie and her in matching outfits, and I hit like.
I decided to send her a picture of me in the back of the car all dressed up. She'd get a kick out of me going out because it'd been so long. I took the selfie and sent it to her. She immediately called.
"Excuseeeee meeee!"
We giggled.
"I know. It’s been so long...my feet already hate me in these heels."
"Where are you going?"
"Some nightclub," I replied, wishing I was home in a pair of yoga pants and a giant t-shirt.
