"Fuck, fuck, fuck! Did you see what he looked like?"
I had already placed the phone on speaker, while frantically pulling on my clothes. I hadn't said a word to Liam, but he was already pulling on his boxers and had reached under the mattress for his gun.
"He was a big guy, and she called him by name." Desmond's voice was sounding more and more frantic the longer the conversation went on.
"What was the name?" I stopped.
"I can't exactly remember...what was the old gangster guy's name....Al—"
I cut him off.
"Capone?"
"Yes, that's it!"
"Desmond get some clothes on. I'll be there in a bit. I know exactly who has Yara."
"Okay, sis, I'll be ready when you pull up." He hung up the phone probably rushing to be dressed and ready.
"I gotta go." I turned to Liam.
"I'm coming with you," he said quietly. "I've already texted, Val he's downstairs waiting."
I shook my head, no. Yara was my responsibility. I should've been home with them and this probably would have never happened.
Liam came over. "Give me a second and let me get dressed."
"Damn it, Liam." I looked up at him.
He lifted my chin and stared into my eyes. "Let me help you, Nova. You can't do this alone."
"Okay." I accepted his help.
He quickly got dressed in some joggers and a plain white t shirt and we hurried down the stairs. Valentin was already dressed and waiting.
"I hope you both know I want Starbucks." He smirked.
"It's on me." I smiled. "Thank you for helping."
"Tell me how I can help." Val nodded.
We began walking to the garage. Each step seemed like a minute in eternity, hoping and wishing Yara was okay. I started quietly praying to my dead mother to give me some sort of sign. I got into the back of the blacked-out SUV. The new car smell hit my nostril instantly.
"We need to get Des first," I replied. "And then we're going to make a stop by Astrid's house."
"Astrid?" Valentin asked.
"Her best friend," Liam said, catching my eyes in the rear-view mirror as we exited the garage. "Capone, the man that took my sister...he's her entanglement."
The feeling of worry was starting to be replaced by anger.
I was boiling, seething and starting to shake. It was a mix or adrenaline and rage dragging itself through my body. It was rolling over my skin like fog covering an already misty graveyard. I knew I hadn't trusted that shady ass man.Damn it!If Astrid had anything to do with this. I was going to beat her into the next century. At this point in time, the friendship was null and void. My sister's life was in danger. Capone was bad news. The only question was, how had she gotten mixed up with him in the first place?
We arrived at my apartment and I called Des to come downstairs. He was riding with us to Astrid's. I just felt like I needed to have an eye on him as well. I should have been home, but stupid me had thought all this was over.
As soon as he got into the car, he dabbed up Val and Liam like he was one of the homies. I rolled my eyes and pulled him into the tightest of tightest hugs.
"Sis, come on," he whined.
