Page 53 of Breaking Sanity (Hell’s Asylum #1)

“Piper,” Nik shouts.

“I am here.” Her voice is so soft that we barely hear it. Baron goes to the last cell, his favorite to put Alley in, pulling out the keys but stops.

“You going to open it,” Nik asks.

“I would if the lock wasn’t jammed with another key broken into it!”

“What?” I run over and sure enough there is a key broken into the lock. “Shadow, the vault.”

“Yes sir,” he responds, already running towards it.

“Eagle, take him to the morgue,” I command, pointing at the dead body.

“Yes sir.” He starts cutting off the restraints and throws the kid’s body over his shoulder and leaves.

“Piper, I need you to get to the back corner,” Baron instructs.

“Okay,” she sniffs.

Shadow comes back within minutes with the door ram. It takes us a few good blows to get the door to cave in. It may be solid metal but it’s thankfully, rusted and extremely old so it isn’t too hard to break down. We never remodelled down here. No need to.

Once we get in, Piper runs and glues herself to Nik. She is repeating how sorry she is. I can tell Nik wants to knock her out, but he holds back and tries to comfort her instead. Again odd, he has only done that a few times but not with any of the girls-just me and the absolute headache of a woman.

In the hallway, we get a good look at her.

One eye is completely swollen shut, her lip is busted, she has bruises scattering throughout her mediterranean skin, specifically on her neck though.

Her midnight colored hair is a tangled mess.

She is just in a bralette. No underwear and bruises on her inner thighs.

No blood though so that might be a somewhat good sign.

A few nails are broken off and her fingers are bleeding.

She looks straight out of a domestic violence picture.

“What happened,” Baron asks calmly, letting her sit in the dead guy’s chair.

“We were… I tried... They…” She is hyperventilating and her eyes are bouncy around wildly.

“Try to breathe.” Baron kneels in front of her and caresses her cheek.

“They came for her in the showers.” She starts to breathe semi-normal.

“I heard her scream, and I went to see, but it was too late. They were already knocking her out. Then… then... They grabbed me and dragged us down here. I tried to fight them off, but they were strong. Then she… she... oh God.” She starts to sob.

“Deep breath.”

“She tried to attack them to get them off of me, and she got one of their walkies. She slid it to me before I was knocked out and… I wanted to save her.”

“Save who?” Gunner gets in her face.

“They’re going to kill her.” She leans into Baron.

“Who is going to kill who,” Nik demands.

She needs to calm down and explain. There is no need for these dramatics.

“Carson, Melanie, that green mask guy, and the yellow mask guy. They’re going to kill Alley!” She starts to say more but it’s inaudible with how hard she is crying.

“Fuck,” Baron mumbles standing up.

“The fucking walkie. He knows Piper got us to help her,” Nik says looking at her hand.

“No, he doesn’t,” Eagle informs, coming down the hall.

“What do you mean,” I ask, pushing off the wall.

“The walkie wasn’t one he had access to. She took it from Mick’s body.”

He demonstrates by talking into the one that is only for us, and his voice comes through the one still in Piper’s grasp.

Alley may piss me off beyond belief, but she is smart.

I had to give her some information so she wouldn’t keep attacking me.

I let her know that we had two different ones and were going to monitor Carson because I didn’t trust her.

That was a lie because we had already seen all the proof by then.

“Carson, where are you,” Gunner asks into the other walkie.

“Busy.” His clipped tone comes through along with a loud scream of agony followed by Alley’s laughter before it cuts out.

“What was that,” Gunner presses.

“Nothing, brother.” Carson is being short.

“Carson.” I take the walkie from him. Gunner’s eyes are already losing their color.

“Vaughn, not now,” He grinds his teeth in annoyance.

“Such a naughty boy, Carson.” Alley’s voice is choked and grainy. I’m not sure if that is because of the walkie or what they are doing to her.

“Carson, bring Alley back,” I say calmly.

“That’s not an option, Vaughn. She must pay for taking you all from me. Alley Cat here must die. Melinda would have never allowed this.” The line goes staticky and all of us just stare.

“He finally snapped,” Baron says.

“You knew this was going to happen,” I yell.

“You didn’t,” Baron counters calmly.

God damn him!

“But Vaughn,” Carson’s voice comes through. “You have been so kind to let me see your videos that I’ll let you listen to her punishment until her last breath and show you the video later.”

“Carson, listen to me.” Nik grabs it from me and tries to calm him. “Bring her back and we can do it together.”

“See Nikolas.” Mel’s voice comes through the walkie. “We both know that’s not true, and I won’t let you confuse my sweet Carson here. He loves me and I love him.”

“Melanie,” Nik snaps.

“No Nik! You left me for her! I gave you everything!! You were mine not hers. And now you will listen as we slaughter your pig.”

The line goes silent, and Nik tries to push the button and speak, but there is nothing.

He tries again but still nothing. There is an ear-piercing scream that sounds like Alley.

Frantically, he tries to speak again. Finally, when he lets go this time, a grunt comes through along with some noises like there is a commotion.

There is a loud smack, sounding like flesh hitting flesh, and Alley groans.

“Oh pig, I taped the button down, so they get to hear everything we do to you.” Melanie sings.

“Lucky them.” Alley laughs and then it’s followed by a grunt.

“Shut the fuck up,” a male voice shouts. That’s Logan.

“Gotta do a lot more than kick me on this dirty ass brown stained floor jackass.”

“Brown stained,” Nik asks, but Gunner shushes him.

“Oh, we will do more than just kick you,” another voice laughs. That would be Ben. I wonder where the fuck that man has been hiding for this long? Are they even on the property?

“Is that right?” Alley’s tone is even more snarky now.

“I’ll make you like trains, pig,” Mel laughs followed by another loud slap.

“Trains?” Nik looks more than confused.

“Like fuck that will happen,” Gunner growls. Melanie shrieks and it’s followed by two more slaps. Alley is growling like a caged animal.

“Slap me again, I’ll cut your hand off and then slap you with it. See how you like it.”

“Go ahead boys,” Mel commands. “Here’s this. She might be a little dry.” Something is caught in the air and an uncapping sound fills the room.

“Fucking touch, me with that excuse of a penis and I’ll cut it off and shove it down your throat,” Alley threatens.

“Fuck the lube,” Ben shouts. The clunk of a bottle hitting the floor tells me he tossed it. “I will paint my cock with her blood.” There is metal scraping on concrete followed by their sinister laughter.

“Are you going to cry for them pig,” Mel asks as Alley whimpers in pain but that soon turns to a scream.

“No but you will when Nik does the same to you,” Alley grinds.

“Put her on her side and we can do this at once,” Ben orders.

“God fucking dammit get off of me,” Alley screams. Our ears are invaded with the sound of Alley fighting back. Skin bouncing off of skin as Ben and Logan curse in frustration.

“We could just kill the bitch,” Logan grunts when Alley goes quiet.

“There will be time for that, but she must pay. Her death cannot be swift,” Carson finally speaks.

“Fuck the bitch bit me,” Ben yelps.

“No, no, no!” Alley starts to shout. The fear in her voice is evident.

“Here,” Mel screams. “Shut her up!”

“GUN-” Alley’s yell is cut off and turns into a muffled sound. Ben and Logan’s groans come through grainy.

“I am doing you a favor G, she has corrupted your mind just like them,” Carson says. The muffled screams and curses behind the gag get louder assuming Carson is walking up to her.

“Shh, Alley Cat, you’ll get to meet Mackenzie and Emily very soon,” Carson soothes. “Make sure to tell them hi for me.”

“They’re in the bunker,” Baron informs before he is booking it out of the hallway going after Gunner. He takes the walkie with him.

“Shit,” Nik exclaims and he follows.

“Get her to medical and stay with her, Eagle. Shadow round up any of the guys who might be in on this and put them down here. Make sure that none of our new guys have been compromised. Have Luke help you,” I order.

“Yes Sir,” Shadow responds.

“Have emergency on standby. This is a family matter but I need everyone to be prepared for the worst.”

“Sir, please bring her back,” Piper begs, still crying.

“I won’t make any promises.” I sprint down the hall to catch up with my brothers.
