“Sorry, I didn’t mean to stay so long,” I said, as I bit into the cheesy goodness.
“You don’t need to apologise,” he said huskily, watching me devour my pizza.
“Apparently, I still need an afternoon nap.” I rolled my eyes. “Thank you for the blanket.”
He nodded thoughtfully. “How are you going in there?”
“Great actually.” I smiled mischievously, but didn’t want to say more.
Luke’s eyes sparkled. “I know that look,” he laughed. “You’ve found something, haven’t you?”
“Potentially.” I waggled my eyebrows.
“Good to hear,” he chuckled.
I glanced up at the screen in front of us, and recognised the movie instantly. “Are you watching Die Hard?” I asked excitedly. We used to watch it all the time when we were kids. It was one of our all-time favourite movies and I hadn’t seen it in years.
“Yeah, you wanna join me? You haven’t missed much.”
“Sure, okay.” I took the blanket off my shoulders and repositioned it on both of our laps. I couldn’t possibly be the only one feeling the chill. Luke offered me a sideways glance, but soon returned his attention back to the movie. It was nice to just sit with him, even if we weren’t talking. His presence always seemed to calm my soul.

I woke the next morning all tangled up in blankets and something else…
My eyes shot open and I found Luke’s arms wrapped around me, my legs intertwined in his and his face nuzzled into my neck. It felt amazing to be this close to him again, but I was in very dangerous territory. He was still asleep, but I could already feel his body responding to the proximity of mine.
Taking a deep breath, I carefully slid out of his grasp, and rolled away before crashing onto the floor with a yelp.
Luke woke in a panic. “Whoa, Blue, are you okay?”
“Yep,” I squeaked, as I jumped up onto my feet, pretending like nothing happened.
Luke wearily lifted his head to get his bearings. “We must have both passed out last night…” he stated, appearing muddled.
“Yeah, I guess we did,” I tittered nervously and straightened out my clothing. I must’ve looked terrible, but Luke’s heated gaze disagreed. I cleared my throat. “I better get home.”
Luke contemplated me for a moment, before wiping his hand down his face. “Yeah, I think I need a shower.”
My cheeks warmed up, recalling the way his body felt next to mine. It seemed we would both need a cool shower.
“See ya,” I blurted awkwardly, running out the door.
“See ya,” Luke echoed softly.

“Good Morning, sweetheart,” Mum chimed, as I attempted to sneak back into the house.
I stopped at the bottom of the staircase and cringed. “Sorry, Mum, I fell asleep at Luke’s.”
“No need to explain,” she professed, with a smug smile.
“On the couch, Mum! We were watching a movie and I fell asleep on the couch.”
She pressed her lips together and nodded. “Okay, dear.”
I groaned at her condescending tone. “I’m going to go take a shower, I’ll be down in ten for breakfast,” I declared, trudging up the stairs.
