H e walked up to the girl slowly, not wanting to scare her. She might not have a wolf in her screaming “mate”, but she should feel the pull toward him as her other half. Still, he wanted to make sure she was receptive to him.

“I have been waiting for you for a very long time. You’re the half of me that’s been missing.

” Caden reached his hand out and gently touched Rosa’s cheek.

His eyes teared up as he gazed at the girl with a look of pure adoration.

He didn’t know this was what it felt like to find your mate—how instantly someone could become more important than everyone else.

Rosa looked up at Caden. She could feel herself being pulled to him.

She had heard what it was like from other fairies who were mated to werewolves, that they instantly felt drawn and connected to the person, and once they received their mating mark, they were consumed with thoughts of only them.

They were right, though she didn’t know about the mark yet.

She just knew. She knew he was the one she’d been waiting for, that she was meant to be his.

She smiled at him and allowed herself to get lost in his eyes.

He looked at her like she was the only person who existed in the world.

Asher cleared his throat. “You two kids want to go get acquainted?” He watched as the two snapped back to reality and noticeably reddened.

“Do you want to walk around with me so we can talk?” Caden asked, and Rosa nodded her head. “If you don’t mind, Alpha, I’d appreciate it.” Asher nodded, and Caden took Rosa’s hand.

Asher knew what Caden was feeling right now. He'd found his reason for living, and nothing would ever be the same. He was happy for his beta. For him, at this moment, his life was just beginning.

“I guess I can talk to her later.” Lita giggled with a shrug.

“Baby, you’ll be able to talk to her whenever you want. She’s Caden’s mate. She’ll be joining us in our pack and in our house.” Asher gave her a wry smile.

“What if she doesn’t want to?” Reed suddenly shot off, feeling protective over his sister.

“Of course, if she doesn’t want to, that’s one thing, but that’s unlikely. You can see it. She felt it too.” Caspian looked over at Reed, who nodded.

“Yeah, she did look quite smitten with him, didn’t she?” Reed looked out in the distance where his sister had disappeared. As long as this was what she wanted, then he had no issues with it.

“Don’t worry, Reed. Caden’s a great guy. I love him to pieces, and I know he’ll treat Rosa well.” Lita knew just how wonderful Caden really was. Any girl would be lucky to have him. “Well, I guess this means we’ll get to see you often, too.”

“Yeah, maybe I’ll be lucky, and I’ll be a mate to one of your pack wolves. Instant girlfriend sounds great to me.” Reed grinned at his idea.

“Just be careful. Some of these she-wolves are troublemakers.” Asher tugged Lita and winked at her.

“Sounds like most women I know, then,” Reed teased. “I need to get back to my job. I still have a shift to finish. We'll talk more later, when I come to visit.”

“Okay sounds good. I imagine we’ll be making a trip to your home soon for Rosa’s things,” Lita said with a wink. Reed nodded his head and walked back toward the concession stands.

Another fairy would be joining their pack, which was exciting for Lita.

Plus, she'd met a warlock and witnessed an interesting power. There was still an elephant in the room, though. She needed to talk things out with Asher and Grayson, more so with Grayson. The two of them were fighting, and he couldn’t read her mind.

Asher already knew what she was thinking.

She could sense that he had mixed emotions over it and, while he didn’t like it at all, he understood.

She was too powerful to keep locked away.

She was an asset and, regrettably, one they would have to use.

She wanted Asher with her to help talk with Grayson, though.

After all, he was her mate. No one wanted to keep her safe more than him.

“Would you three mind excusing us for a moment? We have something to discuss.” Asher, knowing Lita’s mind, took the initiative and asked Kristen, Garrett, and Caspian to give them some time to sort things out.

He wanted everything patched up since this was supposed to be their day of fun.

He watched his three pack members head off toward the arcade again, then turned and faced Lita and Grayson.

“I feel like Caden getting a fairy for a mate is much more than coincidence. Feels like fate is playing with our deck of cards again,” Lita pondered. What are the odds that both the alpha and the beta had fairy mates?

Grayson looked at her and then back at Asher. He suddenly felt a bit insecure, because he couldn’t take it if she was still mad at him. Asher tilted his head toward Lita, motioning for him to say something. “Can we talk about earlier?” His voice came out meeker than he’d planned.

Lita turned and looked at Grayson. She knew he just wanted to keep her safe, but smothering her wasn’t the answer. Honestly, they were both being a bit stubborn. She couldn’t help but feel bad when she saw the vulnerability in his eyes and heard it in his voice.

“Yes, I think we need to talk about earlier. Grayson, I know your job is to keep me safe, but I have a job, too. I sometimes take risks unnecessarily, I’ll give you that.

However, the time will come when I have to fight.

I have too much strength to be hidden away, so let’s work something out.

I’ll try not to take unnecessary risks, and you’ll be understanding and stand by me when I do need to fight. ”

Grayson nodded his head after seeing Asher nodding in agreement as well.

“Lita, I want you to know something. I know I’m overprotective of you, but you’re all I have.

You and Asher are my family. Guardians don’t have families of their own so that their loyalties lie only with the royal family.

I don’t have anyone else, not even a pack to return to.

If something were to happen to you two, there would be no point for me. ”

Hearing this broke Lita’s heart. She felt it stir Asher’s, too.

At that moment, she understood him better.

If something were to happen to Asher, she would still be surrounded by her pack, and she also had the fairy kingdom.

All Grayson had was them. However, she wanted to make sure he knew something.

Both she and Asher wanted him to know this.

“You know, the Black Ice Pack is your pack now. I want you to look at the pack as your home. If something was ever to happen to both of us, you belong there. They would also need your strength. Just something to remember. You wouldn’t have to return to the fairy kingdom.

You could stay here. Grayson, you’re our family.

From now on, you’ll be considered a brother to us.

And when the day comes, you can be our children’s Uncle Grayson.

” Lita hugged Grayson tightly while Asher came and patted him on the back.

“Of course, you know, the closer you are to someone, the more likely you are to fight. Just because we fight doesn’t mean you should think the world is ending,” Lita teased, tapping Grayson’s chest.

“In his defense, I feel the same way when we fight, Lita. I always regret this temper I have, because it gets me in trouble. But it's worse when it's with you, because I'm left without my air." Asher put out a fake, pouty lip toward Lita.

“Smooth. I bet you tell all the ladies that.” Lita tucked herself into Asher’s side, and he draped his arm around her shoulder.

She felt his lips brush against her head.

In that moment, Lita felt that she really could take on anything with the special group of people she had surrounded herself with.

She couldn’t imagine going back to how life was before.

Her life had been incredibly lonely. She loved her new family and her strong pack.

Whatever destiny had in store, she was certain they would overcome it.

She wouldn’t borrow trouble from tomorrow, though; she was going to live right here, in the present—she would make memories and seize life.

No longer would she miss out. She looked up at her two overprotective animals.

She loved them both dearly and couldn’t imagine her life without them.

“Who wants to take me to the bumper cars?”

“You sure you want to do that? I’ll show you no mercy.” Grayson flashed his bright smile toward her.

“Oh? You aren’t going to go all knight on me and protect my car from getting hit by strangers?” Lita peered up at him, blinking her eyes innocently.

“Naw, you’re strong, remember? You don’t need a white knight,” Grayson teased with a chuckle.

“Man, I wish I had that recorded,” Lita said with sly amusement.

“You two might want to just sit this one out. I mean, you can’t compete with an alpha, sooo …” Asher watched as the two raised their brows up at him.

“To the bumper cars! I’ll mindlink the others.” Lita grinned as they marched toward the battlegrounds. She might love these guys to pieces, but when it came to a competition, all was fair in love and war.
