Lita began to stir ever so slightly, causing Asher to wake up.

They were both exhausted and had slept through the evening, not waking until the following morning.

He looked down at her delicate face as she buried her head deeper into his chest. He kissed her forehead and gently pulled away from her, chuckling as he heard her whimper in protest.

“I’m going to get your bathwater going. Then I need to check on the pack. What do you want to have for dinner tonight?” Asher tucked her hair away from her face as he watched her eyes pop open.

“Pizza. We’re having a pizza and movie night in the game room.” Lita’s eyes lit up as she remembered the plans she had made the day before.

“Oh? We are?” Asher watched her nod her head and smile up at him.

“I decided on it yesterday, remember? Your job is to make sure you supply plenty of pizza … Oh, and breadsticks too, with sauce.” Lita was making herself hungry just thinking about her dinner plans.

Asher chuckled quietly. “Alright, sounds like a plan.” He walked into the bathroom and turned on the water before walking back over to the bed.

“Enjoy your bath, and I’ll see you soon.

” He leaned down and kissed her lips tenderly before reluctantly pulling away.

With one last, longing glance, he turned and left the room.

Lita stretched her arms over her head and sighed with happiness as she heard the tub filling up.

She was going to enjoy this bath. She’d been dreaming of it for days, and now she was finally going to relax.

She walked into the steamy bathroom and slipped her clothes off, dipping her toe in to test the water out first before she eased herself into the heavenly warmth.

The heat hugged and soothed her body as she slid herself down into the water. This was a much-needed bath.

After soaking until she was wrinkled and flushed, she finally parted from the water but promised she would visit again soon. She quickly got dressed and made her way downstairs.

Before she’d even fully found her footing on the first floor, she was pounced on by Kristen.

“I was so worried about you! Are you alright? How were you treated? What was it like? You have to tell me everything!” Kristen excitedly held onto Lita’s hands as she spewed a barrage of questions.

Lita giggled. “Let’s start with ‘I missed you too, Kristen.’”

“How are you feeling?” Grayson walked up to her from behind.

“Rejuvenated and refreshed!” Lita turned and beamed up at him. “Where is everyone else?”

“Asher and the other wolf, Caden, are out doing whatever it is your puppy leaders do. Caspian is still resting. That took a lot out of him.”

“You said he was suppressing my presence? So, was he covering mine up or just blocking it? It felt like I had a fiery veil over me.” Lita thought about the painful experience and how the radiating power felt.

“Caspian’s specialties include barriers, among other things.

He put a barrier on you to block your presence from being detected.

The problem is that you’re stronger than Caspian, so it was difficult to put a barrier on you.

He isn’t able to hold that barrier for very long, and it may be almost impossible for him to do it again.

He had to link himself to you to even accomplish what he did this time.

” Grayson tried his best to explain to Lita, though it was a phenomenon that was hard to describe.

“A barrier? I’m stronger than him? How do you know all this stuff? Are you a fairy, too?” Lita was still trying to figure out how Grayson was connected to everything. He was her guardian, but what did that mean?

“Hahaha, no. I’m not a fairy. I can see it, sense it, plus I’ve studied everything.

I know what types of fairies can do what.

I know who are allies of fairies and who aren’t.

I’m called the colossal enforcer, but my job is a bit different from the others.

I am your enforcer. My responsibility is to protect you, not all fairykind. ”

“Wow, so you’re like her own personal bodyguard. Man, my envy for you keeps on growing, Toots. You get to eye that piece of flesh anytime you want to.” Kristen pouted with a slight whine.

“Hahaha, Kristen, you have Garrett!” Lita giggled, reminding Kristen of her mate.

“Oh, I know, but I still like to look.” Kristen shrugged. “I’ve gotta run out for a bit. I’m getting refreshments for tonight, Alpha’s orders. I’d take you with me, but Asher said you aren’t allowed to leave, so I’ll see you soon.”

Lita watched her energetic friend skip out through the pack doors. She looked back at Grayson and shrugged. “Since I’m on pack territory arrest, do you want to go for a walk?”

“Yeah, a walk sounds refreshing.” Grayson smiled down at her as he watched her bounce over to the kitchen. There was still a lot to discuss, and there was a seal on her that needed to be broken.

Lita quickly grabbed an apple to snack on and walked out the door with Grayson. He towered beside her as they walked together.

“Grayson …?”

“Mmm?”

“When we were in the car, when I felt that presence … I think I was having flashbacks, but of memories I don’t actually remember. Then, at the end, I heard a voice. I don’t know if the voice was from my memories or if it was happening then.” Lita watched as Grayson eyed her with a look of concern.

”What did the voice say?” Grayson stopped walking and turned to face her.

The first thing he asked was what the voice said. Funny, most people would be more concerned with her hearing a voice in her head in the first place. Especially one that was not part of her pack.

“It said … ‘I’ve found you’.” Lita spoke softly, remembering the voice.

She watched as Grayson’s eyes grew black, and an aura of anger rose from his body, causing him to visibly shake.

She reached out her hand and gently rested it on his arm.

“Hey, calm your anger. It’s a bit over the top, don’t you think?

” Lita looked up at him from beneath her lashes and gave him a crooked smile.

He chuckled and took a deep breath. “This anger is for you. Sure, I have a temper, but my feelings revolve around you the most. If I’m sad, it’s for you. If I’m happy, it’s for you. If I’m angry, it’s for you.”

”That sounds a lot like a mate …”

“In a sense, the feelings work the same way. The difference is that my bond is stronger. A mate bond can get damaged, broken, and rejected. My bond to you is impermeable, but don’t misunderstand it.

It isn’t like the lust attraction that you werewolves have with your mates.

Anyway, just know that I’m a constant in your life now.

Protecting you is my purpose.” Grayson paused and then continued. “The voice … what did it sound like?”

“It was a deep voice that made my body tense up at the sound. It had a chill to it, and was dripping with malevolence.” Lita looked at Grayson’s worried eyes, causing fear to slither around her heart. “Is it that dangerous?” If my colossal enforcer looks worried, then what exactly is after me?

“Yes, it’s very dangerous. Don’t worry, though.

I’m not going to let anything happen to you.

” Grayson placed his hand on her shoulder to reassure her.

There was no question about it. They needed to break the seal today.

She would need all her strength, especially if he’d found her.

Lita didn’t realize it yet, but she had a lot of power at her disposal.

She was going to need everything she had in order to get through this next challenge.

Lita linked her arm with his and the two of them strolled through the nearby woods together.

“Leaving without me?” Caspian called out as he approached them.

His face looked tired and paler than usual. However, his eyes were still warm, and he wore a welcoming smile on his face.

Lita was happy to see him. She was worried about him after yesterday. “Just going for a walk. You up for joining us?”

Caspian grinned widely. “That was my full intention.”

Lita felt something stirring within her. A gentle, warm embrace that kept pulling her forward.

TUG … TUG … TUG …

Her feet walked for her, taking her somewhere. She stopped at a large field that was just within the pack territory. The sun skipped on the tall, golden weeds as they swayed in the wind.

“Lita?” Grayson watched her reaction. She looked calm, but something inside her was changing. She was being woken up. Someone else was calling for her to wake up. He wasn’t the only one who felt like it was time.

Lita didn’t answer him as she focused on the tugging.

A warmth spread through her as she rested her hand on her chest. She closed her eyes as the wind tickled her skin and played with her hair.

Instinctively, she took a few more steps further into the open field.

Something inside of her was taking over.

A crack had been opened, beckoning her to respond.

Then, in the silence, she opened her mouth and began to sing a song she knew by heart but had forgotten. As she sang, the sun shone on her brightly, and creatures began to congregate toward the sound, watching from a distance.

The sunlight twirls and dances bright

Hidden in leaves before they take flight

In every corner of the earth's embrace

You're swaying, hearing my melody's grace

The flowers bloom, each petal for you

The song pulls us near, a bond so true

Our hearts almost beating as one

Singing together, though miles are spun

Voices are calling from lands afar

Laughter and singing, like a guiding star

Echoing whispers on the breeze

A symphony of harmony in the trees

A voice from afar beckons my way

Guiding me onward, day by day

It smiles, it sings, a gentle call

Your voice in the wind, a sweet enthrall

In joy and sorrow, we reach across

Bridging the distance, no love is lost

Hand in hand beneath the sun

Together, our journey has just begun

Can you hear the song I weave?

Drawing us closer, helping believe

The time has come, the moment's here

Recalling memories, once held dear

The tears streamed down her face as a warm glow grew inside her. Her singing had attracted a crowd of both werewolves and fairies, as well as some other creatures. Asher began to walk up to her, but Grayson put a firm hand on his shoulder. “Wait.”

Can you hear my voice? Time to wake up and know who you are. Born to unite two worlds forever. Wake up! a gentle voice suddenly commanded, and Lita felt a burst in her chest.

She fell to her knees as a strong light and wind flew upward and around her, creating a barrier around her body.

Only one was able to pass through, though.

Someone braced her shoulders. She couldn’t look, but she recognized Grayson’s strong hands.

The pain was excruciating, like a hot iron branding her insides.

Her mind conceded to the torment, and her final barrier erupted.

Her knuckles were white as they gripped the ground in front of her.

Silent tears slid down her red cheeks, dripping onto the earth beneath her.

The rawness of suppressed memories began to invade.

Visions began to play back in her mind like a movie projector, memories of her childhood that she had forgotten.

She was always playing with a little boy when she went for walks with her mother.

Her mother told her he was a special friend because he was her kind.

The more she saw his face, the more sure she became. It was Caspian.

The vivid memory of her mother’s death invaded her mind, flooding it with a torrent of emotions. The grief and anguish that had been buried deep within her now rose to the surface, threatening to consume her.

“Lita, you are very special. You are the daughter of an alpha and daughter of the queen of the fairies. You are the bond that will unite our worlds, my little fairy princess.” Lita’s mother spoke to her softly as they walked through a field.

Small lights flickered around them, dancing and singing in happiness at their presence.

Another memory entered soon after. “A darkness is after us, a demon who thirsts for our blood. He desires a unity with you. He will not have you. You are meant for much more. In order to protect you, I’m going to have to leave you for a while.

I’m going to dissolve this human life in order to shield yours.

This way, the darkness will not be able to find you, not until you’re old enough to face it.

” Her mother’s words were quick and filled with sorrow.

She looked at her, knowing that she was going to leave her.

“I will see you again. I will be waiting for you in Elysia.” She then threw a cloak over Lita and walked away from her.

From under the cloak, she saw her mother vanish as the wolves lunged toward her.

She was not ripped apart, like her false memory had shown.

Beside her was Caspian holding her hand, his arms wrapped around her, shielding her and hiding her aura.

He was there that day. She had forgotten such an important friend.

Not completely, but her memories were shielded from her.

In order to bury her powers and lock them down deep, she had to forget important moments and people.

In her memory, the wolves ran off and began to fade, and she began to come back to the present.

The swirling stopped. Asher was in front of her instantly, gently holding her hands.

There were so many things she wanted to say, but they were stuck in her throat.

She wanted to cry, to shout, to laugh … She was kept in the dark to keep her safe, but it was painful not knowing the truth.

There was no light without the dark. In order to keep her light protected, they had to put her in the dark.

She understood it but just needed a moment to accept it.

Her mother was alive. She was the fairy princess.

Caspian … Caspian was her childhood friend.

She looked up from the ground and searched for Caspian, who was standing only a few feet away.

He had saved her that day but had to disappear from her life to protect her.

Then, when he met her again, he still couldn’t tell her because he didn’t want to stir the memories that would break the seal.

That must have been tough for him. He still remembered her.

Their eyes met, and there was a quiet recognition between them.

She gave him a small smile to show him that she was grateful for everything he'd done, and that she understood why he had to leave and couldn't tell her. She took a deep breath and looked into Asher’s eyes. Life was getting complicated.

She was the one and only fairy princess.
