Story: The ShadowHunter
“Are you going to reveal your thoughts, or should I perhaps marry you and that wall you seem to be so enchanted by?”
“She bled,” he finally said, making Geryon pause.
“She was a virgin?” He shrugged. “I am surprised, but why does that bother you?”
“It does not. It just made me realise you were right about her.”
“I did tell you her gaze may be empty,” he chuckled, digging his fingers into the eggs on his plate.
“Knowing she was pure has eased my concerns with her,” he answered, still twirling that coin, still looking at the wall. “It has made me re-think my stance on the ladies. So far, you have been correct about them, whereas I was wrong. I do not appreciate it.”
“What else has this made you think on?”
“Lady Cecily, for one.” That made Geryon pause. “You told me she has passion in her. Maybe you are right, but I am yet to know.” He looked at the coin. “She is also the queenliest. The way she holds herself is how I always pictured my queen. Someone who will know when and when not to step out of line. There are also her imaginative thoughts. She believes such things as pixies and fairies would follow her. She even believes your kind are still alive.”
Geryon thought that was strange. Most humans honestly thought his kind died out long ago, since they hid themselves from the world.A known Dragon is a dead Dragon.
“You like her?” Geryon’s mouth went dry. “I did not think you would.”
“I am unsure if she would make me happy yet, but maybe I should select her for the people.” Then Bradwick went back to staring at the wall. “I like Wyetta and Savannah as much as each other. Savannah’s hair is bright, and I like looking at it. I also like the dark complexion of Wyetta’s skin. Cecily and Wyetta are both smart, but Cecily’s constant composure is what fascinates me the most about her. Savannah has her fierceness, and she would not shy away from responsibility.”
“You have yet to speak of Charlotte.”
“I have made my decision on her.” Bradwick sighed. “She is much too young for me, and I need someone who will be able to handle their duties. She would be nothing more than a pretty face, one I would have to spoil.”
“You did not think this of her yesterday.” Geryon placed his plate down, now that he was done with it, before eyeing Bradwick’s. “If you do not eat your food, you know you risk me eating it.”
Bradwick grabbed his two-pronged fork to spear the two thick sausages on his plate and began to nibble on them. He nodded to the rest, silently telling Geryon he could eat it.
“There are four days left. I must start thinking about my decision. I am thoughtful this morning because I do not know how to select from the other three.” He took a big bite from his fork, chewing loudly. “They each have their merits, and I like each of them for varied reasons. I do not know how to select one without coming to regret it. Who would you pick?”
Once again, Geryon was brought to a halt, this time halfway through Bradwick’s food.
“If I tell you, it may sway you to pick her merely out of spite.” Geryon pointed his food-coated fingers at him. “You are a selfish, human man.”
This made Bradwick raise his brow. “I do not believe it; one has taken your interest. I thought you hated them.”
“Just because one has swayed me from thinking she is not completely irritating, does not mean I like her.”
“You must tell me!” Bradwick laughed, the coin stopping on his knuckles so he could clasp it in his fist. “Perhaps I will let you have her. You are sometimes a bore, and I know you do not always enjoy my palace. A woman driving you mad may be just what you need.”
She is already driving me mad.He was still angry with her.I am not used to humans not heeding my demands. He’d never had this much of an issue getting a woman into his bed.
“I do not plan to tell you who it is, because it is of little significance.”
“Like I mentioned, you are a bore. You are of no help to me.”
“I disagree.” Geryon once again pointed his fingers at him, this time circling them in Bradwick’s direction. “Your ill-minded brain would have selected the one with the biggest tits, like a cock-hard teenager. At least I made you consider them with deeper thought.”
“You are a Dragon; I did not think you would be so thoughtful about human women.”
“Shows what you know of me,” Geryon said with a shake of his head. “I have spent many years with humans, and I have been watching your kind for centuries.”
“Fine. Who do you think is the best fit for me?”
“If I tell you that, you may not pick her in spite of me. You do not like being told what to do, Bradwick, and I will not have you make the wrong decision because you are being an imbecile.”
He fell back in his chair defeatedly. “Fine. I will figure it out on my own.”
