Story: The ShadowHunter
“Determination,” she answered. “Often confusion. Getting lost in what I was supposed to be doing and where I was going. I was a Witch pretending to be human. I was taught enough about the etiquette, but there was much I did not know.”
His claws gouged the earth in tension. “What of me? I often think you used an enchantment against me.”
Her brow quirked slightly. Even her ears twitched back, like she was surprised or shocked by his question.
“No. The spell I used to hide what I was did not allow me to use magic after it was cast, or I would break it. I did not use magic against you.”
Surprisingly, he believed her. “You did not answer my question.”
“You were a source of confusion. I did not understand why you were interested in me.” She looked to the flames like she often did, but this time, she also nibbled at her lips. “I also did not understand why I could not seem to resist you.”
She lifted her hands to the fire, dangerously close to it, until her palms and wrists turned bright pink. He wondered why she would purposely bring her hands to the heat of flames. That was, until he caught the change in her scent in the air and his eyes widened.
She is becoming aroused. She’d used the painful burn of the fire to stop herself. He cooled his expression before her eyes found him.She does not want me to know she still holds desire for me.Or at least, what human Geryon had been to her.
It was the answer to his question. Geryon had wanted to know if she truly felt something for him, or if it had been lies. He had his answer, but he just hadn’t thought she would still hold desire for him.
She is not averse to the idea of me now that she knows what I am.Not like how he was with her because of her true species.
“I punched Wyetta in the face.”
“Yes, I did see that she was unconscious. I thought you were friends with her.”
“I was. That was why I did it.” When he tilted his head questioningly, she ‘tsked’ at him. “I realised my befriending her and then threatening King Bradwick would reflect terribly on her. I decided to make it appear as though she tried to stop me, to spare her any possible suspicion. She had no idea what I was or what I was doing, and I do honestly think she would be the best queen for him.”
He nodded his head in agreement.
“I believe you are correct.” He brought his paw up to tap a claw against his snout in thought. “When I realised your sister had been taken, I thought I would find Bradwick dead.”
“Like I said, I had no intention of harming anyone within that palace.” She paused, then rolled her eyes. “Except for Lord Daerk. He would have deserved a good neutering.”
Geryon snorted a dark laugh.I still must punish that man.
Even now, Geryon still wished to claw Lord Daerk’s face for his actions; not just because he attacked and attempted to blackmail a woman he’d been interested in, but because he would even do such a heinous act at all.
“What would you have done if you knew what I was from the beginning?” The question had been on the forefront of his mind since they’d begun their journey.
“Refused you without hesitation,” she answered, turning down to stare at her hands. “I cannot imagine how you must feel, knowing what you have done with a Witch. I know how much your kind hates mine. It must be a violating thought.” She turned her eyes to him, and he saw a hint of something in them – something he didn’t like. “I apologise for it and have come to regret it.”
Geryon averted his gaze to look at the forest, his claw gouging deeper into the dirt. She regrets it?
“I am sure even a human would be against bedding a Witch, so I should have just focused on my task and left. I was selfish.”
At one point, he’d regretted it.Do I still?Every time he looked back on those memories, something strange stirred inside him.I enjoyed it thoroughly. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d had that much fun.
Chasing this woman around the palace, forcing her to give him peeks of her true self, coaxing her body to feel desire and reaping the rewards of it around his fingers and cock...
It was a game he’d become smitten with.
Seeing she was different to what he usually hated meant...I do not regret my actions.Actually, when he thought back on them, they made him want to pant.
I still have not gotten what I wanted from her.He didn’t know if he ever would.
“That was not what I meant,” he finally answered, turning back to look at her. He was changing the subject, since he was finding this one unpleasant and confusing. “Would you have targeted me rather than Bradwick, had you known you were on my hunting grounds?”
“No. Bradwick was always the easier person to manipulate. I would not have stayed around for so long, though. I wanted to do it silently, find her and slip out without anyone noticing or being harmed.”
In doing so, you saved yourself from me.If she had acted rashly, he may have sniffed her magic out and killed her on the spot.I would not have discovered what a tantalising creature you could be.
