Story: The ShadowHunter

Geryon was slow to leave, seeming to wait for something.

“I highly doubt that,” she answered absentmindedly. What is he up to?

When she finally caught his eye again, he tapped his hand over where her pinned earring sat before he gave her a wink. A reminder. Then he fell away from the doorway to leave.

He’d been waiting for her to look at him.Impish brute!

When Wyetta cut her a look that said she shouldn’t dare underestimate her, Valerie shook her head. “If you are attempting to do the same thing tonight, I doubt that will work in your favour.”

“And why is that? If he will go under her skirt, then I see no reason as to why he could not go under mine.”

They shouldn’t be having this kind of conversation among the court, but Valerie was glad Wyetta at least said it quietly.

She leaned closer once again to keep her voice low.

“Now that she has taken a turn on his dick, she will find herself there again. I imagine he will invite her himself this evening.” She turned her head to face the woman, who was now frowning. “The situation that would most likely play out is you would be waiting in his bed while he brought her there.”

“That is a fair deduction,” Wyetta mumbled, bringing her hand up to tap her lips. “Then I will have to wait until I have a chance.”

“My day is tomorrow,” Valerie said, taking a cup of tea from a tray that was offered to them. Wyetta took one as well. “I can go out of my way to make sure he goes to his bed chamber alone, and that you are the one who is already there.”

“Would you not go there yourself?”

She shook her head. “I have no interest in winning King Bradwick this way.”

Wyetta’s face flustered in embarrassment. “You think less of me for wanting to take such action?”

“Not at all.” Taking a sip of her flowery tea, her eyes swept over the court.

The only person who could overhear was Victoria, who remained silent the entire time. She wouldn’t share their conversation; Valerie trusted her in this.

“I am not willing to give up my virtuous body for someone who may not take that gift and keep me.”

“I had not expected you to be pure.” Wyetta appeared shocked by her statement.

I am definitely not.

“I know. Women at my age have usually been taken, but I have been waiting for my wedding night. I would prefer to keep it that way. You never know, that may excite King Bradwick when he discovers it.” She took another sip of her tea before bringing her eyes back to Wyetta. “So, you are welcome to take my day to get your revenge on Charlotte. I am fond of you for getting back at the girl.”

“You are an absolute devil, Cecily. This may benefit you as much as it benefits me.” Then she gave her an accusing finger. “How do I know you are not using me to paint us all as harlots to win the king?”

“Have you ever heard the phrase ‘try something before you buy it’? It could also work against me to not participate in this.”

“True,” the woman grumbled before she gave Valerie a warm smile. “If you help me, I will be forever thankful.”

Before I leave, I do so hope I can help give this woman what she wants.Valerie wanted Wyetta to be happy, and she was clearly fond of King Bradwick.

They spoke often about him, since that was why they were here. Wyetta would talk about how much she liked him, but not just because he was king. She was genuine. She liked who he was as a man, finding his humour and personality attractive.

Valerie understood her attraction, but she didn’t feel desire for him.Someone else is stealing that.

She made the decision, then and there, that she would try to direct Bradwick to Wyetta, in the hopes he chose her.I really do think she will make a wonderful queen.

Geryon attempted to stay with King Bradwick. Unfortunately, the dim-witted girl was especially flirty with him this day, and Bradwick was as much back.

One turn with her, and he is a lovesick puppy.Geryon shuddered at having to witness it and walked away.

He’d been hoping to find Cecily at court so he could figure out how to separate them both from it. When he realised she was gone and Victoria had remained, he knew she was off somewhere else by herself.
