Story: The ShadowHunter
I would like to see you try to do that to me, dear human king.
“Savannah worries me for that reason, though,” Bradwick commented, shaking his head. “There is a look about her, one that says, ‘Come hither, unsuspecting man, my pussy is ripe for your cock.’ As much as I appreciate it towards me, her gaze is always suggestive.”
“You are uncertain if she will remain faithful. I am sure she would not commit such a risk as to betray you. Judging her based on a look she may not even be aware she wears is foolish.”
Bradwick pointed his fork at him. “It happens enough that my father beheaded his first wife for it.”
“Ah, yes, you often speak of the tale of Queen Larissa. From what I have gathered about your father, he often spent his time between the thighs of women who were not his wife. She may have done so in retaliation.”
“As a man, and the royal blood on the throne, he was allowed to do as he wished.”
Geryon cringed. “That is something many Dragons cannot understand. It is rare we tolerate sharing a mate, nor will we allow ourselves to be shared. Only a handful will, and that is because there are far fewer females than there are males.”
“Do not be so cheeky with me, Geryon. I have never stated I plan to walk in my father’s footsteps. I would prefer not to spread my seed where it may grow in places it should not.”
Although Bradwick’s father was a magnificent king, he was not a faithful husband, nor was he truly a good man. He’d killed many women who claimed to become pregnant with his bastard children, to the point that they stopped coming forward.
Once Bradwick’s mother married him after he killed Queen Larissa, she gave birth to Bradwick and his brother. She didn’t care who or what he did, so long as he treated her well, which he did.
That was why Bradwick was never surprised when someone stepped forward to say they were an illegitimate child of his father, a half-brother. Most wouldn’t live long after announcing their statement, Bradwick making sure to pluck the weeds when they grew.He must do what he can to remain on the throne.
“Well, I have given my opinion toyour Lordship,” Geryon sneered mockingly. “You may do with it as you see fit.”
It helps that he is not ugly of face.Nor were the parts of him that mattered small.
“Who is it you will be with today?” Geryon asked as they stood to leave.
“Wyetta. I am keen on her, for the same reason I am keen on Cecily. Their conversations are never dull, both in substance and wit.” Then Bradwick snorted. “Although Cecily’s humour is prickly, I do very much like it. Wyetta, on the other hand, comes across more sensual.”
“You have yet to mention the other brown-haired woman.” Geryon just wanted to steer the conversation away from Cecily.
“Charlotte? Her beauty is one of true divinity, and she holds a body I know I would enjoy for years. Unlike the others, her opinions and thoughts are mouldable, but I am worried about how... intelligent she is. It would work in my favour, since she would never get in the way of politics.”
Geryon nodded. “Good. You are looking at them in a way that benefits you, rather than immediately seeing a negative quality as worthless.”
“Yes, I was rather arrogant the last time I spoke of them. I never knew women could be so complex.”
Geryon chuckled, slapping him on the back. “You are listening to my advice for once, rather than being a fool.”
Bradwick scowled, unappreciative of his informal touch. “I have noticed you do not remain as my guard when I am with the ladies.”
“I cannot help it. You all bore me, so much so that I fear I will collapse in sleep where I stand.”
Bradwick nodded in understanding, lifting his hand to his chin. “I imagine you are watching the court. What are the current rumours?”
“Many, but none you need worry yourself with.”
They arrived downstairs for the day, and Bradwick waited for the arrival of Wyetta. Geryon didn’t follow when they left, instead remaining behind.
When it was well into the day, and neither Victoria nor Cecily had made an appearance, Geryon decided to hunt her down.I will not allow her to evade me today.
He found her walking with her lady-in-waiting down the right side of the palace, the opposite way he knew she’d gone the previous day.
Now that he had found her, he made his way up the hallway where they couldn’t see him.
Rather than coming up from behind her, Geryon appeared in front, opening the door they were heading towards.
“Lady Victoria, Lady Cecily,” he exclaimed boisterously, bowing his head in greeting. “What a surprise that I would find you two walking inside on such a lovely day.”
