Story: The ShadowHunter
“What are you?” she said, causing his eyes to widen and his hand to freeze.
“What do you mean?”Could she really have discovered that I am not human already?
“No simple guard would have the audacity to approach and handle the daughter of a duke in this manner. Tell me what you are so that I may know how to handle this outrageous physical touch. Are you actually a lord?”
“Ah, Lady Cecily, I am special.” He leaned forward to press his unmoving lips to one cheek. “Think of me as someone just as powerful as the king, but without the title.” He moved to the other cheek to press his lips there. “Not even he controls me; therefore, neither can you.” He brought his lips to her chin.
“I am here to gain the favour of King Bradwick. You would be so disloyal to him?”
“My loyalty is to myself alone.” His lips curved when he placed them against her racing pulse. She appears so calm, but her heart is fast, her scent saturated with unease.“And no one will be able to save you from me.”
One thing that confused him, though, was that her scent didn’t match her. It was flowery.
He took a deeper draw now that he was close.
He expected it to be spicey, something that indicated her personality, the way she acted. She does not smell how I thought she would. He was disappointed. No matter. Her mouth matches her face, and I wish to change them for myself only.
“And what of me? Do you have no care for how I feel?”
He placed his lips against the underside of her jaw, forcing her head to tilt back and to the side.
“You will enjoy it,” he answered her.
What Geryon wanted from her required that she desired him.
Some of it may appear forced, some of it would be confusing to her, but what he wanted was her spreading her legs for him.Because it is only when she willingly lusts for me that she will allow me to break her.
Women like Cecily, who were uptight and proper, were not easy to birth desire in. She would have to obtain the power of pleasure before she would allow it to overcome her.I will make her crave me.
He now had less than two weeks to steal her passion and take it for himself.
Then, if King Bradwick chose her, he would no longer desire her because she would be taken by another. If she left because she was unsuccessful, then she would no longer be in his sights for him to think of her.
She should feel humbled that a Dragon was interested in bedding her.I will play with this human.
He could hear the click of approaching footsteps against the stone ground.
“Be prepared for me, vicious butterfly.”
Pulling away from her, he tilted his head so he could let his bottom lip brush against her ear lobe. His voice was soft as he whispered, his breath heavy against her, “Name is Geryon, by the way.”
With a grin at her glare, he released her so he could back away. Then he walked to the back of the library and climbed one of the spiralling staircases to the second floor.
Keeping his eyes locked on hers, he walked across to the other side of the room, opened a door, and left.
Valerie stared dumbfounded in the direction the guard went.
“How are you feeling, Lady Cecily?”
Valerie almost jumped at Victoria’s words. She’d been so distracted, she hadn’t heard her coming. She’d told the girl earlier that she was feeling a headache and wanted to relax in a quiet location.
It had been a lie, of course. She just wanted some peace and quiet.
“I appear to be much worse,” she answered, still eyeing the second floor’s exit.
What shall I do about this? She couldn’t allow him to think he could get away with pursuing her.He will get in the way.
Valerie dragged her attention back to her lady-in-waiting. “What is it that you require, Victoria?” She must have come to her for a reason.
