Nope. Didn’t expect that of him myself. And then the Finnish runner Henne Hinsta had an issue with her ECG and they won’t let her race either. In addition to the two elites, thirty-odd ‘fun’ runners have dropped out.
Mac:
Jesus. That’s like … ten per cent of the participants out before the start. OK, so of the people who will be on the starting line, any surprises?
Jason:
Not to brag, but I was spot on with all my guesses. Rupert, Nabil, Farouk, Mariam – they’re all here. There is one massive wild card that NO ONE guessed: Pete’s ex-wife, Adrienne Wendell.
Mac:
You’ve got to be shitting me?
Jason:

It’s a story that had everything. Sun, sea and scandal. Coach Glenn was one of the mostsought-after ultrarunning coaches in the world, and places at his legendary running camps came by invitation only. When Adrienne joined his roster, she started smashing all the records, racking up podium finishes and generally making a name for herself on the European ultrarunning circuit. His all-female Ibiza camp was set to launch some young up-and-comers on to the scene. Rumour had it that he was looking to train the first female finisher of a Boones race – and Adrienne looked like she was primed to be the One. But it all ended in disaster. After the camp finished, Adrienne posted on her social media, accusing Glenn of sexual assault. Glenn always maintained his innocence. And the Spanish police seemed to agree with him – at least they didn’t hold him on any charges and let him return to the UK.
