Story: Runner 13

The Ultra Bros Podcast
Hot & Sandy Edition
Mac:
Bros, you’re in for a treat. We promised and now we’re delivering a LIVE update from the Sahara, the night before the race start. Now, I’m sure you can tell that I am not out in the desert. I’m still here in boring old Newcastle, because someone needs to be the bloody tech support, GPS dot watcher and all-round ‘keeper of conversation flow’ in case our UK-to-desert communication ends up going tits up. But for the moment we have our man on the ground, Jason Lowry, on the satellite phone. Jason, how’s it going down there?
Jason:
Mate, the race hasn’t even begun and I’m telling you it’s been a wild ride already. This is a race unlike any I’ve seen before. It’s so impressive. When Boones decides to go big, he goes BIG.
Mac:
I wish I could be there! How you feeling?
Jason:
Pretty good, pretty good. Passed all the medical checks and gear screening. They’re being extra strict with the elites, probably because there’s so much money at stake. I’ve also seen a few big corporate sponsors on the hunt for new talent. But it’s not been smooth sailing for everyone. There’s been drama already.
Mac:
C’mon, do tell …
Jason:
Well, some people have been sent home before the race start. Some big-name elites. One shocker is Pete Wendell. Apparently he failed his tox screen and he’s now on his way back home.
Mac:
Whoa. You’re joking!
