"Adam. Don't talk, it will only make things—"
"He kill-ed all...of the men. He is...so str-ong. So strong..." The man swallowed, "He left a mess-age to giv-e to you."
Dr. Beloca was to tongue-tied to speak. His mission failed?
Adam looked him in the eyes and opened his mouth, "Go and tell yo-ur coh-orts...to avoid me and my people. Tell the-m that I will co-me for you all one day, and I will destroy every last one of you."
A shiver worked down Beloca's arms. For the first time in a long time, fear-filled his lungs.
Adam breathed deeply, "Those... were...his... words."
"He... was...so...strong. So...strong." All of a sudden, his monitors went crazy. They began beeping loudly and erratically.
"He's dying! Call the doctor!!" Adeladin steeped out and sounded the nurses.
But, it was too late.
"Back off... Doctor Beloca...before he comes...for you." Was Adam's last words before he closed his eyes and his head slumped to the left.
There was a long sustained beep sound on the electrocardiogram monitor, Beloca watched as the lines flattened out. He is dead.
Fear was like a living, breathing entity inside Beloca at that moment.
The mission to capture Number 6 by more than a hundred hunters and Rhodium guns and arrows, had failed?
So, if Simon comes back with The Successful, there'll be no Number 6 for the experiment?
He couldn't help asking himself again.
CHAPTER 18. CRAVING HER. MISSING HIM.
Sandra fainted.
The instance Alphose changed into a cougar, her eyes rolled back into her head and she dropped to the ground before Ismena was able to reach her.
Ismena couldn't even bring herself to blame her friend. Looking at the huge, gray mountain lion, she would faint in this situation too. She did faint in that situation.
The memory made her lips twitch. Her eyes rose towards to cougar a few feet away from her, "Well, you can shift back to your male form. As you can see, she is out like a light." She said the words nervously.
It might not be her first time seeing these changelings in their animal form, but they still make her very nervous.
The cougar shifted back into a tall, bulky man. Alphose walked forward to stand over Sandra, he watched her carefully.
"Well, I did advise her to hold that thought." He said, non-committally.
Ismena snorted, "Yeah, right. As if holding that thought was enough to save her poor heart. It's not exactly easy watching a man morph into a giant lion."
His lips twitched. "She said she had the balls to see it."
Ismena's lips twitched. "I knew she didn't."
"Well, we have to get going." Then, he bent and lifted Sandra into his arms. Her feminine scent caressed his nose, he had to bite back a groan of pleasure.
Damn. The woman might not have the scent of a potential mate but she does smell great.
With her in his arms, he made a half-shift then; growing a foot taller, larger, and hairs almost covering all over his body.
"Get on," his voice deeper, he gave Ismena his back.
