"We have no business with NAALC but I believe we have a business with you. A business that is of interest to the both of us and will benefit us both, greatly."
No way. He barely got out of his involvement with them almost twenty years ago, it was a narrow escape. He isnotgetting involved again.
"I have no idea what this business is about, Doc. Now, if you will excuse me..." He proceeded to pull the cellphone away from his ear.
"Dr. Angor told me all about you. How you helped us capture Number 6."
"Well, you were not able to keep him, were you?" He snarled, "Instead, he escaped, killed all of you, and burned your biggest laboratory to the ground."
"His escape was a...mistake that was unforeseen. This time around we prepared a more soothing cage for him made with rhodium and the morgan silver. He will not be able to escape this time around." The doctor deadpanned.
Cronus sat up, "Did you just say rhodium? Morgan silver!?"
"Yes."
The wolf alpha recoiled visibly. Rhodium is the most dangerous metal to a werewolf and morgan silver is deadly when it comes in contact with a werewolf's skin. Rhodium weakens a werewolf so much while morgan silver can kill them.
He was almost feeling pity for the Alpha King. Almost.
But still...
"Look, I don't want to get involved with you all ever again. I try to pretend twenty years ago never happened. Let's leave it that way." Cronus declared.
He was about to hang up again when the doctor's next words stopped him.
"Don't you want to be King anymore?" It was calmly asked. "Dr. Angor told me you wanted to rule the whole animals—I mean, changelings. Whatever y'all call yourselves." He paused, "Don't you want to be at that top anymore...?"
Of course, Cronus wanted to. He craved it so badly it is like a drive-in his blood.
"You can help us capture him this time around and I can promise you that we will keep him confined till we get what we want, then we kill him. He will never make it out again." The doctor vowed.
And when the Alpha King dies, he will be the next to lead the changelings as the only older Alpha Werewolf. Naturiah will be his and NAALC will belong to him too. He will be King.
"Count me in." He replied automatically, "What do you need to be done?"
"To capture him, we need you to bring him out to our world. Find a way to get it done. Once we capture him this time, he is not getting out."
Cronus considered telling the doctor about the secret they don't know. That the Alpha King is not only a werewolf but a mountain lion too.
But, he swallowed those words down for the very same reason why he didn't tell them eighteen years ago. Once they find out, the Alpha King will know that a changeling has a hand in his capture. He will know that there's a traitor.
He does not want that shit in the air at all, talk more of him not getting caught. He does not want the Alpha King or the other Alphas on his tail at all. At least, if the scientist's plans fail again, he will be safe just like he was all these years.
But, he knows for sure that their plans will work this time around. There is Rhodium and Morgan Silver involved this time around.
And, they also work on mountain lions.
"I will bring him out to New York," Cronus stated, already sure of the way he can achieve that.
"Good. This is a private number. We will keep in touch here. Get it done as soon as possible and call me, Wolf." With that, the line went dead.
An hour after the line went dead, Cronus was still riding in euphoria. He was suddenly so happy for the first time in a long time.
KING'S TOWER, NATURIAH.
The next evening, Wolfaraine got back from the village where he has been all day, overseeing the new hunting ground that was being constructed in the outskirts of the Wild Forest.
He took his time checking on Nalaila who, according to Degar, woke up long enough to eat lunch before she went back to sleep. He also checked Alphose and was glad to find out that the Cougar Alpha is already moving around, almost fully recovered.
