Story: Her Vagabond Heart
Grayson:No
I frowned, biting my lip.
“He said no, didn’t he?” The anxiety in Esme’s voice was obvious.
Me:No, you don’t mind, or no they can’t stay?
Grayson:They can stay
I waved my phone triumphantly. “He said that’s fine.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes! He said he’s looking forward to it.”
Esme narrowed her eyes. “Now I know you’re lying.”
I grinned. “Yeah, but only about the looking forward to it bit. He’s fine about the rest of it.”
Me:We can get takeout, or I can order something for delivery.
Grayson:I’ll cook. What do you want?
Me:Oh, I could do a giant sausage right now
Grayson:Stefania
Fuck, just him typing my name like that made me shiver.
Me:I’ll be serious. I’m in the mood for pasta.
Grayson:I’ll be home in 30 minutes.
Without thinking about it, I was just about to send a love heart emoji.Fuck, don’t go making it weird.
Me:Okay
“All set!”
Not me, spending the next thirty minutes counting down the moment until the elevator chimed. I sprang to my feet and was already in front of the doors when they opened. And there he was, in his impeccable suit, holding two bags of groceries, his eyes already locked on mine.
Fuck, he was so gorgeous. My system went into overdrive, my belly flip-flopped and a slow flush crept up my skin. “Hi.” By some miracle, my voice didn’t squeak.
“Hello.”
We hesitated for a moment, knowing Wolfe was stepping out of the elevator behind Grayson and that everyone was watching.Fuck it, I hadn’t seen him for days.I stepped forward, pushing my fingers into his hair and kissed him, hard and fast. I pulled his head down so I could whisper in his ear, “Jesus Christ, I could lick you all over.”
Then I moved back, taking one of the grocery bags from him and heading into the kitchen. I looked inside the bag and frowned. “Semolina…olive oil…eggs.”
Grayson dropped the other bag on the bench and I looked in there. Cottage cheese, spinach, pine nuts. “I’m making it from scratch.”
“Oh, Jesus, that’s fancy. Can I help?”
“If you like.”
“Can I too?”
Grayson glanced at Belle. “Uh, sure. If you want to.”
I frowned, biting my lip.
