Story: Distorted Obsession

colter
“You two couldn’t waitto get her behind closed doors?” Mason huffs, taking a seat next to me.
My brother, being the ass that he is, snorts, “And miss the opportunity we just had. I think not, my friend.”
“What he said,” Liam adds, and I have to fight the itch to roll my eyes.
I won’t lie. Seeing Eva free like that was different than how she is when we’ve been with her. She let down her guard, like that night she fucked Liam and that girl, Savannah at the welcome back party.
“I’m not going to pretend that I didn’t need to rub one out, I’m just not sure that I like the way those assholes were looking at her,” Mason states.
“He has a point,” I chime in. “Chad looked like he was seconds away from coming in his pants while Thad and Brad screwed some sorority girls visiting from Lincoln-Wood.”
Cooper’s nostrils flare at that revelation. Like me, I find he is becoming increasingly possessive of the girl we love to hate and refuse to ever like, much less love. She’s the means to our revenge. Through her, the four of us get the vengeance that weseek. That doesn’t stop me from being happy that we turned off the cameras and that we had a no-cellphone policy. All phones except for the Heirs’ and Teag’s were locked away in a room that only Coop or I had access to.
“We accomplished the mission we set out to do. She’s completely oblivious to everything we’ve been doing,” I smugly state while I shoot off a text.
Me: Is everything ready?
Teag: Yup. But I’d like to remind you that I will tell you I told you so when all of this blows up in your faces
Me: That’s not gonna happen Teag
Teag: Sure it’s not. That’s why you’re destroying that bitch Tricia’s family
Teag: Because you hate Eva soooooo much
Me: Just let me know when it’s done
Returning my attention to the people in the room, I listen as they discuss what we could do next.
“I have pictures from her time at Meridian Retreat & Spa,” Mason announces, dropping a thumb drive on the table.
Grabbing it, I plug it into my laptop, bringing the images up on the screen. We scroll through each one, seeing nothing worthy of exposure. I click to the next photo, and my eyes widen, and my mouth drops open.
“What the fuck?”Cooper shouts, his expression matching all of ours. Shock is an understatement in this instance.
What the fuck indeed.
My astonishment wanes, and I finally find the ability to speak. “Isn’t that?—”
An ear-splitting scream cuts me off, forcing my focus away from the person on the monitors.
Brushing the interruption off as a drunk sorority girl, I prepare to ask my question, wanting to confirm I’m not the only one who recognized them.
“Th-th… dead body. There’s a f-f-fuck-ing d-d-dead girl covered in blood,” the girl shrieks.
We look at each other before we’re on our feet, rushing out of the room.
It can’t be Eva. We sent her home, but my worry pushes me to confirm it’s not our zina l-m????? .
“Clear the house,” Cooper instructs a few of our frat brothers, but I don’t wait to confirm if they’ll follow instructions. Anxiety is riding me harder than a rodeo cowboy on a bucking bull.
Luckily, only a small group of people are standing outside when we arrive.
Elbowing past them, I lunge inside, my heart thumping practically out of my chest when I finally see who’s lying dead on the bed.
