Story: All I Have Left

“As much as I should say no…” He shakes his head, swallowing hard. “I want to see you come again.”
That does it. That and the sight of him jerking off beside me.Goddamn. “Do you think of me when you do this by yourself.”
“I don’t do this by myself.”
I quirk an eyebrow at him and he laughs, his eyes glowing in the white light filtering between us.
His tongue darts out to lick my shoulder, and the faintest scrape of his teeth follows. “Every time,” he pants, his chest rising and falling rapidly. “Have you thought of me like this?”
“All the time. I’ve never gotten off, or had sex, without thinking of you.”
I’m not sure if my comment about sex bothers him, but there’s a distinct flash of anger in his eyes that even in the darkness, I can’t miss. I’m so wet I can barely keep my fingers in theright spot needed, but the imagery is enough to do it for me. I hold out until he whispers, “Are you close?”
I nod. “Come with me,” I breathe, working my fingers faster.
He swallows hard, his hand moving faster, and then he hunches forward, his shoulders rising off the bed as his entire upper body shakes. “I’m coming.”
And then I do, too, my eyes on him the entire time.
After a few minutes, Grayson’s still holding himself when I burst out laughing. “What the fuck is wrong with us?”
He laughs, slightly breathless. “So much.”
It’s times like this, moments between us, alone, that it’s easy to believe life doesn’t exist outside this.
Too bad that isn’t true, but it’s nice to at least pretend for those moments.

GRAYSON
It’s around six in the morning when I feel Evie running her hands over my bare chest. I keep my eyes closed, not knowing if this is a dream or not. Her fingertips make circles around my bare stomach, slowly going lower until her fingers are at the waistband of my shorts.
I open my eyes to confirm my theory to find her gazing at me.
She grins, wide. “I thought that would wake you.”
“I’m up. Clearly,” I tease, hinting that it’s not just me awake here. I roll so she’s on top of me. I move my hand up her body, tangling it in her hair to pull her closer to me. She freezes before my lips met hers.
Evie places her fingers against my lips. “I actually wanted to talk with you.” Shifting off me, she sits up against my headboard.
“Yeah?” For some reason, her calves catch my attention. She still has scrapes down her legs and the thought makes me instantly angry.
“I think it’s about time we talked about everything.” Nervously, she bites down on her swollen bottom lip. Her face is looking better now but her eye, it still looks puffy and discolored.
“Okay.” And then I wait to see what she’s going to say.
“I’m sorry for leaving with Shane that first night,” she begins. Ashamed, she sighs dejectedly. “That’s when I should have said something. And I’m sorry for yelling at you. I didn’t know how to handle you being back and seeing me in this kind of situation.”
I cut her off before she can continue blaming herself for this, shaking my head. “Evie.” I reach for her hand in mine. She traces her fingertips over my busted knuckles. “I don’t want you to be sorry for something you had no control over,” I demand point-blank.
“I know. I just… I feel like I’m putting everyone in danger for my stupid mistakes,” she whispers, looking down at our intertwined hands. “I’m scared he’s going to come after you after he gets that protection order served to him. He’s vicious like that. Vindictive.”
I look up at her, wondering what the fuck she saw in him. “Why were you with him?”
Evie sighs, her shoulders slumping forward. She pauses as if she’s trying to figure out how to word her response. “Honestly, he was sweet at first, kind of reminded me of you.” She meets my anxious eyes, then glances back at our hands.
Did she say that? Reminds her of me? What the fuck?
