To my adventurous daughter on her thirtieth birthday,
I’m not sure what other father and daughter relationships are like.
It used to be something that kept me up at night.
Not anymore. Being in your life for thirty whole years has been my greatest joy and honor.
You are the kind of goodness that the world desperately needs.
You see the best in everyone, and that is a rare trait these days.
It can be easy to become calloused, especially as you enter this new decade. But I want to let you in on a secret: your thirties aren’t the end of the best part of your life. They’re the beginning.
Your thirties will be filled with copious amounts of confidence that you didn’t have in your twenties.
They’re filled with peace and comfort as you become who you were meant to be.
It’s a launching point for you to soar to new heights because you’re no longer tethered by expectations or conventions.
I love you exactly as you are, and I love seeing you grow into who you were meant to be.
Love,
Dad
