I nod.

“I could have opened any type of business. But I saw this place in Indiana. It was highlighted as one of the top places to get married. And I thoughtWhy Indiana? So I went there. It was a really cool setup. And I thoughtI can do that.”

“And you did. Bishop Fields is amazing. People come from all over, and it brings revenue to the town. You’re doing a wonderful thing.”

“Thank you.” He wraps his arms around me. “I’m happy with what we’ve accomplished here, but I didn’t realize how hard it would be. Seeing everyone else get married. Able to be with the person they loved.”

“I’m sorry it took me so long. But I’m all in now, love. You know that, right?”

“I do.” He laughs, and it sounds nervous. “Starting with Mac and Rainn’s second wedding, which wasn’t at Bishop Fields, butI helped Zye arrange everything, there have been twenty-seven weddings in all. Twenty-seven couples getting to say I do and kiss their loved one for the first time as their legally wedded spouse.”

“Do you still have the ring?” I ask.

“Yes. You?”

“Me?” My smile drops. “Did Jane tell you?”

“Lanie.”

“I have it. But I put it away.” I hate the sadness that’s somehow still in his eyes. Does he think I’ll change my mind? “I’m done living in the past. What about you?”

He smiles. “I’m ready for the future.”

“All right. Then let’s do this.”

Even in the dark photo booth, I can see the confusion in his eyes. “Do what?”

I laugh. “What have we been talking about? Let’s get married.”

His jaw drops. “Wait. I’m the one proposing.”

“And taking your sweet time doing it.”

“I’m getting to it, okay?”

I nod. “Sure, love, sure.”

He shakes his head. “You’re unbelievable.”

“I’ve heard that before.”

He rubs his thumb across his forehead. “Jesus, Aidyn, is this a proposal or a fight?”

I grin. He’s so much fun to rile up. “Can’t it be both?”

He laughs. “Aidyn?—”

“Hold on. Can we get out of the TARDIS? It’s fecking hot in here.”

Once we’re out, I don’t give him another chance to drag it out. “Garrett, love, will you…?” I nod toward the wedding stuff.

He grins, his eyes bright. “Yes. Will you…?”

“Fuck yes.”

He grabs my face and kisses me. It’s sweet and gentle, and I’m not having it. I turn him around and slam him into the TARDIS. Surprisingly, it holds. I use the angle to deepen the kiss.

When we break apart, he grins at me. “Did that really just happen? Are we engaged?”
