“That’ll never happen.” The words she spoke out loud didn’t match the ones in her head, which were along the lines of,Yes, please.
She went on a mental tangent about Vera not doing a thorough enough job, further confirming that Leela had asked Vera to wipe his mind.
“You think what happened in Brazil was the best I can do?” he asked, hoping to trigger another glimpse of a memory. “That was just an introduction. By the time we’re through, you won’t even know how to move without feeling me between your thighs.”
Her mind conjured up a memory of dancing and fucking in front of a crowd, rivaling a recollection that taunted the edge of his thoughts. He’d dreamt of that scene, the one where a female rode him on a stool and went down on him after making him come.
Fuck, that made him hard.
And the way her mind melted into a follow-up thought about him taking her for hours in a bedroom only made him that much more desperate for her.
The warmth trickling off her body, coupled with her stiffening nipples, told him she felt similarly.
Then her mouth confirmed it as she breathed, “Show me,” in response to his promise to slay her ability to move.
“I will,” he vowed. “After I make you crawl.”
She snorted. “Then it’s all talk, baby, because I’ll never crawl for you.”
His groin tightened, his anticipation mounting by the second. He brushed a soft, teasing kiss against her mouth, the electricity between them a hum of expectation. “Thank you, Leela.”
She frowned. “For what?”
“For providing me with a new challenge,” he informed her in a low murmur. One I intend to win in record time.“Now get your fine ass in the shower. I’ll join you momentarily. And we’ll see how long your resolve lasts.”
Chapter2
Balthazar
Naked.Wet. Female.
Three of Balthazar’s favorite things.
Too bad he couldn’t indulge in the stunning display before him now. He needed answers first. And he very much wanted to make this woman crawl before he took her.
She’d played a dangerous game in his mind.
She’d stolen his memories. Twisted the facts. Toyed with his sensual experience. Made him forget one of the most mind-blowing weekends of his life.
He didn’t have all the details yet but understood enough from her hidden thoughts to know she’d altered one hell of a memory.
It unnerved him, the sense of someone else having played in his head. He was a mind reader, a being of immense emotional power, and couldn’t stand the notion that his own psyche had been altered via seraphic magic.
“Hmm,” he hummed, his gaze sliding over her perfect form. She was exquisite in every way—aside from her mental trickery, of course. But Balthazar could work with the gorgeous body standing beneath the showerhead.
The water darkened her long blonde hair to a light brown, the droplets teasing the ends before dripping down to her pretty breasts and lower to the flat planes of her stomach. Balthazar wanted to follow the tempting path with his tongue, kneel before her, and worship the goddess between her dancer-like thighs.
Her blue-green irises flickered with heated flames, telling him she knew her allure and power over men. She was a Seraphim with fertility powers—a fact she’d admitted out loud and also confirmed with her thoughts.
Oh, he definitely remembered her.
He couldn’t say how or why, but there had been this inkling of familiarity the moment she’d returned to his life. One that had told him he knew her. Intimately, too. He just hadn’t been able to determine when they’d met. Several thousand years of existence made it far too easy to forget acquaintances, but his soul had recognized her immediately.
And now he knew why.
“I’m tempted to make you re-create those memories with me,” he informed her, his voice low yet carrying through the water raining down around them. He stepped forward, his palm circling her throat as he forced her to hold his gaze. “Down to every last detail.”
It wouldn’t be the same, she thought. He knows who I am now.
